The Stuff While People Like

Sorry for mis-spell in the title

Stuff White People Like is a satirical blog about a particular segment of Caucasian culture. It’s like an extended “you might be a redneck if” joke recast for a more upscale set. It gently mocks the habits and pretensions of urbane, educated, left-leaning whites, skewering their passion for Barack Obama and public transportation (as long as it’s not a bus), their idle threats to move to Canada, and joy in playing children’s games as adults. Kickball, anyone?

Y’know, racism AGAINST white people is just as bad as racism FROM white people.

And if someone else made a column called “Stuff Black People Like” that would also be funny??? Thanks, HGFM, you hit it on the head…

Anytime. ^_^

GAH. This cross-posting thing is really getting annoying.

I think Stuff White People Like is a pretty funny blog. Obviously satirical. And it often hits pretty close to the mark.

It looks like I’m not a typical white person on most counts according to the list. I think that’s a good thing.

Actually, I don’t find the list funny or anywhere founded in reality.

What’s wrong with #1 Coffee? Thats just how I roll!

This’un is funnier.
[Black People Love Us!](http://blackpeopleloveus.com/)

^^ Ha - I’m probably one of the few people who’s never had a cup of coffee (and I’m not Mormon).

Post #1 is racist in a subtle way. Emeralkity’s post #8 is racist in an overtly offensive way.

Both are funny.

You must be white (#101 Being Offended).

Mis-spell in the title? I think not. I for one would not have clicked on it if it were not “mis-spelled”. You just wanted to get hits.

@post #12: Yes, I am offended by racism. Aren’t you?

Like all cliches- there is more truth to them, than we want to admit.

Plus- * satire?*
[Today Now! America’s Finest News Source](<a href=“The Onion | America's Finest News Source.”>The Onion | America's Finest News Source.)

Here are a few definitions of racism (all from dictionary.com):

I don’t think the blog is racist according to these definitions. It does not say or imply that one race is superior to another race, and all of the statements are cultural observations as opposed to claims of inherent differences or superiorities/inferiorities. Further, it’s satire, and it’s self-deprecating humor. It’s not meant to be a scientific study, and it’s not meant to be politically correct.

I am only offended when there is reason to be offended. Thus, I am offended by mean-spirited racism and that which inflicts harm. It’s similar to the way that I am offended by gay jokes told by someone who means to offend and not offended when friends make similar comments in an innocuous manner. Do you think that this blog is harmful? Do you think that it’s mean-spirited? I don’t. Obviously, though, YMMV.

The author is laughing at himself too as he fits many of the categories in the list. And of course he said that lots of other people (non-whites) like the stuff in the list too. Maybe we could add CC to that list.

Okay I love this blog and having been reading it for a while. It is not really stuff white people like, but stuff twenty-something urban hipsters like. My fiance and I love it because we ARE twenty-something urban hipsters.

For those claiming racism, there is a blog called stuff educated black people like and it is the same idea. It is in the same vein as “the know your Italian/korean/jewish/arabic/texan when…” chain letters

Post #1 fits this definition perfectly.

You conveniently deleted: “usually involving the idea that one’s own race is superior and has the right to rule others.”

What you left off makes all the difference. Believe me, I’ve experienced true racism. And it definitely does involve that last part.
