This helped me: When I would go to bed, I would turn the light on in his bedroom. That way if I woke during the night, I could see that he was home safe, if his light was off.

After the evening at our house, thought I’d bump this thread up again…

Wow, S who has done hardly any shopping yet, gave me a WHOLE hour of his time to go shopping tonight! (that includes the 15 minute drive out to the store and 15 minutes back) And, the 30 minutes in the store were spent unfocussed and texting making plans for tonight.
I was steamed. Still am!!!

We bought one item - a backpack - that I’m not fully sure he’s sure about - whoopee!

I’m sure he’ll look lovely drying off and wearing that backpack down the hall after his shower…don’t you wanna just BRAIN them for being so apathetic!

I’ve decided that the reason I am “okay” with DS going in a week and a half is that there is no charm in picking up the dirty socks and cereal bowls of an 18-year-old adult. I don’t want to stunt his growth by continuing to baby him, so really, I am doing him a favor by sending him off on his own. Very mature of me, right?! :-)
