The Teaching Company

Does anyone have any experience with this company. They sell cd’s and dvd’s of lectures by college professors. Since I am old and do not need anything anymore I may put these on my gift list. My wife and daughter force me to get gifts for “special occasions”

I’m a homeschooler and have used several of these courses and found them to be interesting/high quality. If you have to take a long drive, or commute regularly, you can learn while driving. Make sure you get them when they are on sale. (They rotate the courses that are on sale, so the one you want will eventually come up).

I’ve ordered some of these CDs and have really enjoyed them.

I second atomom’s endorsement. They are excellent. By all means get them on sale; you can also find them on auction sites.

There is a new competing company…something like Modern Scholar. Perhaps you can check with your library, too.

We also used a couple of their courses while homeschooling and found them very interesting and informative.

Another testimonial for The Teaching Company - we loved the Greek Mythology lectures. Listened to it on our college visit roadtrip.

Are you sure college lectures are really what they had in mind when they came up with the idea of gifts for special occasions? Just trying to help keep you out of trouble.
