Great Day 1 for Oz! So happy both Isner and Sock lost and Sock losing to Jordan Thompson makes it all the sweeter.

Did I just read that Serena is 20 weeks pregnant?!?

No one seems to know for sure.

If it’s true, pretty bizarre way to announce you’re pregnant.

Congrats to Serena. But I doubt we’ll see her play professionally again.

Her publicist says she will be back in 2018, but guess we’ll have to wait and see. I sure won’t miss her if she doesn’t.

I will miss her if she doesn’t, and wish her a safe and happy pregnancy! Women’s tennis just got even more boring.

What can be more boring than tennis comms picking Serena to win every tourney she enters?!?

Women’s tennis is a constant dramarama - massive chokes, tears, mental breakdowns during on court coaching, shade and poor handshake etiquette!

Next week should be doubly drama filled with the return of Martha.

So Martha played very well for first match back in over 15 months. Vinci being a mess out there certainly helped, but match was really in Martha’s hands. Her serve was really on.

They introduced both women simultaneously which I’ve never seen before…Maybe to protect her from any booing?

Why do you call her Martha? I refuse to watch her matches, she’s too noisy for me and her affectations are painful to watch.

It’s her “plain Jane” name.

Andre is Bob. Pete Sampras is Dog (always had his tongue hanging out.)

There are so many women who striek/grunt now it’s almost impossible to find a match where the decibel level is normal.

Martha is annoying to watch but I wouidn’t have missed this match…I also find Konta difficult to watch. Her awkward bouncing ball motion stance before serving drives me nuts.

I have a long list of players I am anti-fan of.

Nope, can’t keep up with all your crazy nicknames! Maybe you could put their real name in parentheses for me?!! I rarely watch women’s tennis, but I did see Konta in the Aus Open I think, is she the one that has the very exaggerated and SLOW bouncing of the ball? Sheesh.

I do like Aggie Radwanska although she’s a pretty big head case, too.

Is Azarenka back yet? Guess I will have to try to find some matches to watch!

Ok, will do.

Yep, that’s Konta. Her bouncing ball is the worse bit, but her whole game is also extremely mechanical.

I like Aga, too. I play a similar game as she does, being tiny. Have to always try to outwit my opponents as I can’t hit them off the court.

They’re all headcases!

Vika supposed to be back for summer hard court season.

Just saw they aren’t give Sharapova a wild card for the French. Don’t really care. Although interesting to note that some on Twitter commented that they gave one to a French player serving (just served) ban for betting. Don’t know all details.

I just saw it too ( but not about the French player.) Also heard she retired with an injury in Rome today.

Guess we won’t see her again until the grass and iirc, she has high enough rank to get into Wimby qualies,

Paul Annacone and Mark Knowles picked Martha to win RG just yesterday. Cart before horse,

Roger has also withdrawn. :frowning:

Draw is out:

http://www.rolandgarros.com/en_FR/draws/

Rafa/Djoker on bottom half of draw. Sir Andrew/Stanley on top half.

Angie drew Makarova. Wouidn’t surprise me in the least of she loses.

And Petra is in the draw!

So happy for Petra!!!

So happy Pics pulled it out in the 5th setting up a very pretty match with Feli next round.

Kiki/Brady match was a hot mess that was never ending.

Very good win by FerV but his history is flopping in the next round so can’t be counted on for taking out the trash in later rounds when I really need him.

Nice and tidy win by Aga, who apparently couldn’t waste any time lest she be late for her ballet recital.

Nike kits are too horrid for words.

Another very emotional win for Stevie Johnson. My heart breaks for him. His dad was only 58!! We live in Orange County, California so we always root for Steve. His Dad really was the nicest person.

Very sad about Johnson’s dad. So young, too.

I’m hours and hours behind today - just now watching the end of Petra/BMS. Good match for Petra even though she lost. But now she’ll have a good few weeks to practice on the grass.
