The Tennis Thread

I read something similar about DC on my tennis board, too.

Cuomo just announced at his morning presser that USOpen is a go.

Will fans be allowed? Or have they said that yet?

No fans allowed.

From some of my pods earlier in the week I heard that players will all stay at one hotel near the airport (I assume LaGuardia,) only one team member allowed and players not allowed to go into Manhattan. Plus, top players will each get one of the lux boxes to use instead of main locker rooms, to reduce # of people in those locker rooms. Several charter flights will bring players into NY from around the world. And players need proof of negative test within a day of boarding the planes.

No sure if that is 100% accurate - just based on what they’ve been hearing.

I’m happy to have some live tennis to watch. Lack of fans not a problem on TV for me. I would think tennis would be second only to golf as an easy sport to restart.

Saw that they think Serena will play the Open. Smart move on her part - “local” for her and lack of other top women will give her an edge. She’s not my favorite but does guarantee some high level matches.

I’m happy i can watch on TV, too.

I heard Serena wouldn’t play unless she could bring her daughter with her.

Noah Rubin spoke about the Tennis phone call he and hundreds of players were on announcing the us open plans on his podcast Behind the Raquet.

Evidently no press except the broadcasters.

That makes sense.

Maybe they’ll do zoom pressers.

Dimitrov tested positive for CV19. He was in Croatia on second leg of Djokers exo tour. Last weekend there was a big player party and.during the matches no safety precautions at all. There was a lot of criticism about this on Tennis Twitter from what I’ve heard.,

I assume no safety precautions were taken on the Croatia leg. I have the matches recorded but haven’t watched yet. The final today was cancelled.

Coric has now tested positive. He played Grigor on Saturday. Grigor was already not feeling well. Two coaches also tested positive.

Oh no. Sorry to read that about testing positive. I hope they dont have lingering lung damage.

I read this on Twitter:
Two players, one coach and one fitness trainer contracted Covid-19 at Novak Djokovic’s controversial event.

But Djokovic went home without even taking a test because “he did not feel any symptoms”

Supposedly he got tested when he went back to Serbia. But I don’t believe that. More likely he had Pepe give him a hug and sprinkle fairy dust on him - then pronounce any virus has left his body.

I also read one of his PT’s is infected. But I didn’t see that anywhere except on Men’s Tennis Forum.

Victor Troicki and his pregnant wife have also tested positive.

And the Adria Tour has now been cancelled. Thank heavens.

Tennis can be socially distancing. Why did they have to hug each other, shake hands, have a kids day, party, basketball, soccer, etc… So very disappointing!!

Because of Djokers massive ego and his crazy beliefs. He also wanted to prove CV19 is not in Serbia.

You know where his head is at when his big objection regarding the USOpen is about not allowing him to bring his entourage and that there too many safety precautions being imposed.

Djokovic and his wife have tested positive.

@TatinG

Wow. I just woke up and haven’t read any news yet.

But, karma is a…

How the tables have turned when Kyrgios is the voice of reason.
