If it goes to 5 sets, Djokovic will win. Federer is going to have to be at his efficient best and wrap it up in 3 or 4 sets.
^ I agree.
Hopp Hopp Roger!
Bummer! Ever since someone said Djokovic looks like the Muppet Beaker I can’t get it out of my head.
It was a great match. My two favorite players. I thought the tennis was great.
One thing about Novak…he was probably crushed after he didn’t win the French…and he comes back and wins Wimbledon.
Yeuch is all I can say.
Bumping for USO.
Draws are out.

Some very interesting 1st rd’s on men’s side including Murray/Kyrgios. Nole fans will be happy to learn NK is now on the top of my most hated list - placing him now in 2nd and Murray into 3rd
Rafa seeded 8th and has Coric first rd. If anyone has been watching any of the USO series he has been downright dreadful. Coric with a very good chance of the upset. But regardless, he has no shot getting past Djoker in QF if he even makes it that far.
Serena’s quarter is littered with Americans, includiing Venus, Sloane & Madison.
I have been watching quite a bit of the ladies this summer and have especially enjoyed watching Eugenie Bouchard in “The Fall Cometh.” At the rate she is going, after the USO, she might be out of the top 50 ![]()
I am getting VERY EXCITED!! I leave for NYC in 5 days! Plans include two days at the Open (Wed & Thurs) and a Broadway show on Friday night (Something Rotten).
Forecast is for in the 90’s almost all next week so don’t forget to pack your suncreen!
Is this your first time or have you gone before?
I haven’t decided which days I’m going to go yet. I’m thinking I may take Thursday off to recharge my batteries. Over the weekend my sister & BIL have an out of town wedding so S and his GF are going to take their tickets. He hasn’t been with me to the Open since he was a tot and I dragged him.
Everyone I know who has seen Rotten have really enjoyed it, so I’m sure you’ll have a great time!
This will be my fourth time I think. I am going with my mom and sister and I think this is the 10th time for them. We are all about finding spots in the shade. We have had a warm summer here in Southern California, with uncharacteristic humidity, so I think we should be OK. I do remember that aerosol sunblock is not allowed. We usually lunch at the restaurant on the patio in the shade. My mom (77) likes to spend the entire day there, so we usually arrive before 11am and might not leave until 10pm depending on how late the matches outside of Arthur Ashe go.
Love the patio restaurant! We usually stay until last match is over outside, too. I’m looking forward to the 1st rd matches not being spread out over three days so there should be lots of good matches still going on after day session in Ashe is over.
I had my wee tin of Altoids taken away last year by security witch who took her job way to seriously. It’s worse than going thru airport security now.
I am very excited as well, first time at the Open next weekend. Unfortunately it looks like there are a couple of good first and 2nd round matches that will happen before I get there.
@Snowdog, there will be plenty of great matches on the weekend!!!
Since you’ve never been if you have any question feel free to ask.
@Snowdog you will have a great time! It might be helpful to look at what you can, and can not bring in. http://usta.usopen.org/US-Open/what_can_you_bring/
I’ll be there the 4th, 5th, and 6th…Love the first weekend! It will be interesting to seeing if hiring Jimmy Connors works out for Genie Bouchard…He only lasted a month with Sharapova. She should have never left Nick Saviano.
I think Jimmy only lasted one match with Martha.
Genie got too big for her britches and, from what I read, started treating Nick like a servant. I think he left her. I read when he wanted to discuss her schedule for this year she told him to discuss it with her management. That was the last straw.
Nothing and no one will help Genie unless they change her technique - which is dreadful. That will take an incredible amount of time. She is just not that good and never was. She had the benefit of ridiculously easy draws in slams last year and then an injured Halep at Wimby. Her results in other tourneys last year were not good at all. Lots of 1st rd/2rd losses. Also, everyone has figured out how to play her now.
Then there was the handshake affair which was the icing on the cake
I just hope my man Rafa doesn’t lose before I get there LOL…please
I wouldn’t mind an upset in that match.
I’ll be on Court 5 tomorrow morning. Might be last time to see my Tommy.
For the tennis fans, this is cute:

Thanks for the “heads up” @abasket ! That is really cute!
We had the best day yesterday at the Open! We had reserved seats in Armstrong and they had a fabulous lineup (Fish vs Lopez, Mattek-Sands vs Vandeweghe, Nadal and then doubles with the Bryan’s vs Stevie Johnson & Sam Querrey. Then we got invited to a suite in Arthur Ashe and saw the Djokovic match. I think we were there over 12 hours! Going back today!
