The Tennis Thread

^ Me, too!

He puts losses behind him incredibly quickly. There are a few finals losses my favs have suffered were I can’t ever watch the 5th - even years later.

Onto Sydney, Hobart and Auckland. Saw most of Sam’s match against Vinci. Nice to see Sam finally win a match on home soil. Also saw a bit of men’s dubs. Isner/Rosol v Miryni and a guy I never heard of. I didn’t even realize Max was still playing.

Didn’t see any tennis yesterday and couldn’t find any when I looked last night. I enjoyed Isner last year at the Hopman Cup, but Jack Sock won over a lot of fans in Perth. He’s funny but respectful (in between points he was goofing off but pretty serious during the match). I knew nothing about him but I hope he’ll be back next year. Glad Sam won, she’s such a tense player.

Draw is out:

And Tomic withdrew from Sydney to give himself a better chance at the AO? Seriously? Punk.

Did you see it? He and Mohamed were having a discussion about it in the first set! Bernie was talking about how he needed to get to final in Sydney to get any points and how he had a good draw in Melbourne. Our comms were flabbergasted the convo was even taking place let alone that it was miked because it was on tv for all the world to hear!

Haven’t had a chance to take a good look at draw just skimmed the top seeds. Murray looks to have the cakiest.

I saw a video clip of it and read some articles - Renee Stubbs’ tweet was great if you haven’t seen it. I haven’t looked too much into the draw yet, our Fed seems to have a pretty tough one. :frowning:

Djokovic is in too good of form for anyone to beat him. Only person I see maybe challenging him is Nadal if he plays better with his new strings. He switched to Big Banger Original, what he played with 10 years ago, and he is hitting a much better ball.

Still though, Djokovic won’t have any issues this year outside the French which seems to be as deceitful as a pickpocket for him.

Djoker beat Rafa last week 1 and 2 and the comms said it wasn’t as close as the score suggests!!! He’s not beating
Djoker.

TOS, I’ll have to google her tweet.

Renee didn’t mince words, no?

I don’t get this current crop of Aussie men. Even Lleyton looks good in comparison!

I said no one would beat him, but if Rafa finds his form he is the only one who has a chance.

Now thinking about it, I think that Wawrinka on his best day will challenge him.

SI seems to be pushing a Nole-Stan final. Stan is in Rafa’s quarter, however Rafa had zero problems with Stan at the ATP finals.

First impression, not a fan of Serena’s outfit.

I’m behind and just watching Pkitty - is Serena wearing the crop top?

Yes a bright yellow crop top accentuating her belly button ring.

^ Awful kit.

I fell asleep after that match but it’s not a great day in Florida (only in the 50’s) so I’ll watch the rest of yesterday’s matches today.

Do you all hear about the match fixing scandal. BBC going to have a presser on it tonight London time. I wonder if they are going to name some names besides Davydanko and the Spanish player he was playing against in Sopot.

^ That particular accusation is pretty old news isn’t it? Anything new? Like Roger said, name the names and name events, not the same old whispers.

That particular match is but they are saying there are 8 players in the AO draw this year who are involved. Also players who have won GS singles titles and ones who won GS doubles titles in the past. So it’s more than just Davydanko and Vasselin (sp)

Sounds to me like TOTB in ATP and ITF have known all along and chosen to ignore it,

There was an article in the Swedish press around 2011 with a long list of players who were involved or who were suspected to be involved.

What a good day in Oz yesterday was! So happy for FerV and I’m glad LL didn’t go out in 1st Rd.

The women’s draw is its usual mess after the 1st rd. I can’t see anyone left bothering Vika unless she suddenly breaks a leg.

Fingers crossed Aga sends Genie home tonight.

Were you surprised by Halep? I have never seen her play but she was seeded #2, so I think that was a shock. Maybe she has been injured, not sure.

Go, Aga!!

Poor Duckworth. He handled himself very well in a tough situation. Glad to see Jack Sock come through, but don’t know the other American he was playing.

Azarenka looked really tough, but she was miles better than her opponent. She didn’t want to lose a point! Very sharp.
