^ I think that’s easier said then done because every player has a different style.
Just finished watching Aga. She sure pulled a cat out of the bag. Felt badly for Anna-Lina but I think being run ragged for a few hours and nerves when trying to serve it out got the better of her.
Going to watch Dasha/CSN in a bit. Thanks to ESPN3 I’m watching sitting by pool. It’s only in the 50’s but protected from the wind the sun is hot.
tx5athome, Simon did nothing special today. Djokovic played horribly. 100 unforced errors. If he plays that way against Nishikori, he will lose in straight sets.
Nole has a human type of day proving he is not a machine…much needed IMO although I do not think he gets his due for how consistently great he is week in and week out. Would love to see Kei do well.
I missed Raonic’s win over Stan. Not a big fan of R but he seems poised to have a good year.
I agree snowdog. Nobody can play at their best every single time. He won 23 consecutive sets going into the match against Simon. I would rather he have an off day against Simon than against Nishikori or Federer. My concern is that he just had a four and a half hour match against Simon, and Nishikori is perfectly capable of forcing another 4+ hour match. If that happens, and assuming Djokovic does in fact win, I am not sure how much gas he will have left in the tank when he faces Federer. He is really going to have be sharp against Nishikori (like he played him in London in November) and try and finish that match in under 2 hours.
Another very average performance by Djokovic. Fortunately, Nishikori played even worse! At least the match lasted just a little over 2 hour of playing time, so Djokovic should be well rested for the game against Federer, but if he is to beat him, he will have to play a lot better. Fortunately, Djokovic rarely comes out flat against the members of the “Big 4”.
One never knows. Had Djokovic played the same way as he did on Sunday, he could have lost. But when the draw came out, it was pretty clear that Djokovic and Federer would most likely meet in the semis (those two have won the Australian Open 9 times…how crazy is that?!). On the other side, I have to admit that I had anticipated Murray and Wawrinka, but I suppose Raonic will no nicely. Raonic could upset Murray. There is no doubt that Murray had the easiest schedule so far.
Hehe! I think Murray will most likely beat Raonic anyway. The Djokovic vs Federer game could go either way. Ordinarily, I would have given Djokovic the clear advantage in the AO, but the way he has played in the 4th round and quarterfinals, Federer could easily win. Hopefully, those two will not fight it out for four hours, because if they do, Murray will easily win the finals.
Murray was asked about that at Hopman Cup (leaving if his wife goes into labor), has been asked at the Aus Open, and he has repeatedly said there are lots of tennis matches, but only one birth of his first child. I take him at his word and firmly believe he’ll go if it comes to that.
First labor may take a long time but it also takes a long time to get from Melbourne to the U.K.! Of course, a private jet is probably faster and he can certainly afford that.
My heart really wants Roger to take it all. I think Simon forced Novak to be so bad; Courier kept talking about Simon taking all the pace of the ball.
What’s the deal with Nishikori? He was just awful. I can’t remember seeing him play before, and he has a high ranking, so evidently he is not always so bad.
Oh, shoot, too late to edit, I hope I didn’t spoil the match for y’all. It feels like old news here but I realized you may not have seen it yet. So sorry!
