The Texas Solution to School Shooters

Does this count as proving their womanhood?

http://www.thehulltruth.com/dockside-chat/476186-finally-well-dressed-wal-mart-shopper.html</a></p>

I’m not sure what you mean by I can’t take it out of the holster to show how tough I am. Do you mean I’m not capable of taking it out or not allowed? I’m not interested is showing how tough I am. I’m interested in having a tool with me that allows me to protect myself.

The good guys won’t brandish their guns because they are the “good guys”.

<— I’m a female. I usually carry concealed but occasionally I open carry.

Dragonflygarden, Pizzagirl noted that the fact that numerous people walk through your Walmart carrying guns is “nothing to brag about.” Your response:

What I mean is the fact that the Constitution allows something does not mean that one should take pride in its exercise in all places and all times. The fifth Amendment gives you the right not to confess to the commission of a crime. It’s a constitutional right, which I presume you value. But if lots of people in your town openly flaunted their exercise of that right, would you brag about that? I would find people carrying guns in my local Walmart to be exhibiting immaturity, elements of narcissism and lack of courtesy to others. I wouldn’t brag about it. Even if the Constitution gives them the right to do so.

Might be different in other parts of the country. But then, I choose to live here.

I don’t see why insurance companies wouldn’t be willing. They will insure anything for a price.

I’d love to see that legislation and then let the courts decide as to it’s constitutionality.

I don’t think that is something I would brag about. How embarrassing to ignorantly conflate gun ownership with redneck stereotypes, and let that be the reason you support gun regulation.

See Texas works because every has a gun so not only is a criminal afraid of gettting caught but killed. He doesn’t have to get away from the cops but everyone. A criminal can’t possible know who has and doesn’t have a weapon (although it Texas it is likely they have a weapon). Not only that but the death penalty also stops people from abusing firearms more often. Not saying I agree or disagree with either but that is how it works.

“I have seen pictures of women openly carrying. Does that count as proving their womanhood?”

Photoshopped.

As a matter of fact I have told my children that they are NEVER to speak to the police without a lawyer present so in a way the answer to your question is yes.

ETA: A while back some high school government teachers got in trouble for showing the you tube video “Busted” to kids in their class. This is information kids need to know. My kids have seen that video several times.

Because the good guys would be behaving lawfully (or else they’d be the bad guys by definition).

More wikipedia - Rank of countries - per capita rate of gun ownership by private persons -
1 - USA
2 - Serbia
3 - Yemen
4 - Switzerland
13 - Canada
42 - Mexico

There doesn’t seem to be a direct correlation of deaths by guns to the per capita gun rate although I’d suspect the accuracy of the data in places like Mexico, Yemen, Serbia, etc.

^ There was a case were a kid was blame for a murder and put of death row because he talked to the police without a lawyer. He signed paper for his containment and was tortured and ‘confessed’. Before he was killed the real killer fessed up (because he had terminal cancer) and pointed the police to the body. This story scared me and doesn’t help gain the trust of police.

Anyone from Alaska who can vouch for the picture I posted as not being photoshopped. i.e., is that common?

doubt it. [OpenCarry.org | ?A Right Unexercised is a Right Lost?](http://www.opencarry.org/)

Ok then. Women who open carry do it to prove their manhood, too.

egelloc80, Texas reports over 400 violent crimes (and 4 murders) per 100,000 people per year, which is almost exactly the same as California.

http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/crimereports/11/citCh2.pdf</a>

http://oag.ca.gov/sites/all/files/pdfs/cjsc/publications/candd/cd11/cd11.pdf</a>

The good news is that crime rates in both states have been declining at about the same rate in both states - which strongly suggests that what increases or reduces the amount of violent crime is unrelated to degree of gun ownership, frequency of executions, etc.

“As a matter of fact I have told my children that they are NEVER to speak to the police without a lawyer present so in a way the answer to your question is yes.”

But we all (I think) get really ****ed off when people take the witness stand and plead the 5th. And it’s not something most people would brag about doing, or a relative doing, if they had to.

I am shocked that California, the peace on earth nation has the same crime rate as Texas, the “GUN CRAZY” state.

Aren’t there guns that have some kind of “fingerprint” safety, which mean only the person with the right fingerprint can fire it. If so, then those would be more safe on a school ground because if the wrong person got the gun in their hands, it wouldn’t fire.

It is our constitutional right not to incriminate ourselves. Doesn’t make me angry in the least. It is the obligation of the prosecution to show evidence of a crime.

Very well stated. And while they may have the “right” to do so in their local jurisdictions, I also have the right to be spectacularly unimpressed and to think of them as backwards, unsophisticated, and trying-to-prove-their-tough-guy credentials.

Why does Texas get to be “Gun Crazy”? You all aren’t even allowed to open carry. I think there are more “gun crazy” states- AZ, AK, NM, VT, VA, NC, etc
