yes I have given for my M.tech admission, after qualifying GATE exam 2012…
It was nice But I don’t know what’s wrong in that so I didn’t select…
but the experience of interview was good I learn many more things by that interview.
Is 1 hr and 40 min long for an interview? This interview was for Georgetown and the interviewer talked for a long time.
Anyone know if “casual” dress for an alumni interview is actually casual?
Casual, IMHO, means collared shirt and nice pants for males. Jeans are OK if they are neat & tidy. Women have greater latitude but NO CLEAVAGE. Either gender should avoid TShirts, sweats, or athletic shoes.
That’s my opinion but I think they are general conventions. Part of how you present yourself will also be your acumen at understanding societal norms. Clothes aren’t everything and your interview isn’t a beauty contest – but appearance can say a lot and leave impressions, subtle or grand.
clienk: if someone says casual, certainly don’t wear a business suit.
This thread is very helpful. Thank you.
G’town interview in t-minus one hour!!
Good luck, harbor! Don’t worry too much about it.
You may want to think the “Why Georgetown?” question through. I am still stumped…
Edit: Too late.
DS is doing a phone interview with a UChicago alumni on Sunday. Any advice for a phone interview?
Hah, that’s casual? I wore a Smashing Pumpkins T-shirt and skinny jeans to my only alumni interview so far, and it was for a pretty prestigious college.
i had a georgetown interview like 2 weeks ago and a syracuse university interview last week. The Georgetown one was so much fun and we talked like for 40 mins in his office which was located conveniently like 5 mins from my house. It was pretty casual we talked alot about g-town sports.
i just want to know how much do interviews impact your application?
lablahrahmah college is confusing
Do interviewers ever ask whether their school is the applicant’s first choice? What if the answer is no? Also, has anyone had (is anyone having) an interview at Haverford College?
none of my interviews asked that
@Hallomar
Some interviewers may want to gauge your likelihood of attending their school but to bluntly ask that would be pretty dumb. Either they force the student to lie or quibble. Don’t ask a question that you aren’t prepared to hear the honest answer is a good adage.
what happens and a starbucks interview, what should i do?
^I had an interview at a Starbucks. It was pretty busy with a bunch of college students talking. So, if you live an area where the Starbucks is popular, get ready for some background noise. Other than that, there’s not much difference between that and doing it at someone’s house or an office.
I had a choice between my interviewer’s office, and a cafe. I chose the latter, since its an easier setting (one which I would feel more comfortable in). Just focus on your interview and nothing else. Starbucks sounds fine.
Just had my MIT interview. It was pretty comfortable.
My interviewer just asked questions about my major and my reasons for choosing that, also about what sets me apart from other students, and more questions that would be expected.
I was also given a lot of insight to the school from the interview.
I am scheduled to have an interview for Johns Hopkins this sunday and I’m really nervous. Can any of you give me some tips for college interviews or recommend me a post/website with useful tips? Please and thank you
p.s. How am I going to identify my interviewer at the coffee shop we are meeting up at if I have no idea what she looks like?
