I’m that after we’re done with this thread, cc will crash or something, and threads will die by the thousands.</p>

therefore, when this thread is ‘dead’, CC will be gone, too, because it’ll all be lost at the same time.</p>

<p>but I’ll answer your question just the same. Yes my good man, there was world war II. But when WWI finished, the loss of human lives, etc, was so great, that they thought that no matter how violent another war was, it would never surmount WWI (which was obviously called The World War, at the time)!</p>

<p>People, lets not get technical here. When I say dead, I mean that cc will crash, causing the virtual cyber-spacey death of all other threads.</p>

<p>^The way I heard it, it was The Great War until Russia stopped fighting (and started its revolution) and the United States entered. It then became The World War, or at least that’s the way i was it happened.</p>

<p>Actually, WWI was the war to start all wars. Think about it…</p>

<ol>
<li>Germany reparations - eventually led to Hitler rising to power (WWII, which by itself also led to many other wars)</li>
<li>Russian Revolution - creation of USSR (Cold War)</li>
<li>Dismemberment of Austro-Hungarian Empire - led to many competing small nations and rising nationalistic rivalries in the Balkans (Balkan crisis which is still ongoing today)</li>
<li>Dismemberment of Ottoman Empire - Middle East countries, again hostility (War in Iraq, Iranian/Syrian/etc etc terrorists)</li>
</ol>

<p>I agree with all of them except 4. The Ottoman Empire was falling anyway (they were already having their own civil wars for the same reasons that there are still wars going on now). WWI didn’t cause their demise.</p>
