<p>Do you think I should maintain a tone of “As a student of Northwestern, I WILL…” or “If I were admitted to Northwestern, I WOULD…” What sounds more effective? Does the first example sound too arrogant?</p>
<p>I’ve heard of people using both, but I wrote mine mostly in the tone of
“I would like to work with…” “I would love to do this activity…” “I look forward to…”
And when it was slightly more generic, I used things like “Northwestern is a perfect match for me because of this program…, I enjoy doing this…” etc. I never directly used either, I think it keeps it a little more personal.</p>
