The Truth about Muir?

is it really true that only people who put it as their first choice will get into it?

I put it as my first choice, but most of my friends didn’t…

i put it as my first choice, and sixth as my second…i hope i get it (asumming i’ll get into ucsd)

I forgot which colleges I applied to and in what order. Is there anyplace we can check?

haha, same here - I completely forgot. :O

From the UCSD Muir page:

“Should you apply to UCSD and not rank the colleges, you certainly will not end up as a Muir student. Each year Muir fills its entering class with students who made it their top choice. So nota bene, it behooves the UCSD applicant to devote extra time to surfing UCSD’s College sites.”

http://www-muir.ucsd.edu/prospective_students/index.htm

yes u can check by viewing ur uc app reciept
https://admissions.ucop.edu/pathwaysF2007/Pathways (same uc online app site from november)

these were my rankings
COLLEGE RANKINGS FOR UCSD
Earl Warren:1, John Muir:2, Thurgood Marshall:3, Eleanor Roosevelt:4, Sixth College:5, Revelle:6

if im accepted… i guess im not gonna be in muir since its not my first choice

Ah,thanks.

Earl Warren

Revelle

Thurgood Marshall

John Muir

Eleanor Roosevelt

6th

My ranking was

Muir
ERC
Warren
Marshall
Sixth
Revelle

I didn’t think much about ranking them when I was filling out the application… :frowning:

Earl Warren

Sixth

John Muir

Thurgood Marshall

Revelle

Eleanor Roosevelt

chose warren because i heard they had the best dorms, and had fairly simple GEs
Muir also has faily easy GEs

Revelle’s GEs seemed the hardest =

anyone know about sixth? is it good in terms of academics (GEs), etc.? i want to do something in the social sciences

all i know is muir was my first and revelle was my second. and quite frankly, ill be happy with either one (if i get in). muir has the ez ge’s and revelle has the best science department and my major is biochem so… yep.

That seems to be a popular rumor. I don’t know if you HAVE to put Muir as your first choice but I think it’s the most competitive one to get into. I put it as my first choice and I got in.

John Muir:1
Earl Warren:2
Thurgood Marshall:3
Eleanor Roosevelt:4
Revelle:5
Sixth College:6

Wait, don’t students in every college have equal access to all classes/departments? I mean, other than the GE’s like Muir’s writing core, Revelle’s writing core, etc.

100% right. Anyone who tells you otherwise is wrong. This is coming from a current student

Ho shoot, I put Revelle first. That was a bad idea wasn’t it, and there’s no way to switch out of a college?

1) Muir
2) Marshall
3) ERC
4) Warren
5) Revelle
6) Sixth

im pretty sure all the schools have equal access to the classes and departments but this guy i know who goes to ucsd told me revelle is best science school out of the 6.

I got tricked into that too, but Revelle has the hardest GE’s DX
