The Ultimate Question

First time: 1820
Second Time: 1920
Third Time: 1960

Now, I want to go to UCSD/UCLA with my UC GPA of 3.96. Now, the biggest question that I have to consider is WHETHER OR NOT I should retake the SAT for the fourth time and get the desired score (I cried, begged, and pleaded for a 2000 and above. Just 2000 flat would be perfect) btut I didn't get it. Should I retake it? Put yourself in my it really worth the 40 pts?

If you think you've maxed out, and you don't see any benefit to offset the hours/money, then don't take it. If you think it's still worth a shot, go ahead. only you can figure out whether it's worth it for you.

Would you do it if you were me?

If you are instate then definitely dont take it again

I am instate...why shouldn't I?

well whats the break down of your 1960?

680 - W
660 - M
620 - Cr

when is your admission deadline?

I really wanted to take again, to try to break 2000. but since all my apps are due december 1st it won't make a difference.

Mine are due Nov 30th. However, UC's still accept SAT scores from December (last SAT they will accept) and I'm wondering whether or not I should register. PLZ HELP!

The answer is 42.

No one can tell you whether you should re-take; it's a personal decision. Your breakdown of scores isn't all that bad for in-state admissions to UCs. Statistically, UCSD admits ~50% of applicants with SAT scores in the mid-600s; that number drops to 20 to 30% for UCLA (this information is available on UC's admissions website). Is there any particular reason you want to go to these more selective campuses besides prestige? If so, then studying out of the Blue Book and re-taking would be a good idea. Otherwise, you'd better also apply to some of the less selective campuses.

Well, there are other reasons. I love UCLA and I love the Los Angeles environment. I've heard so many great things about UCLA and I just admire its high school spirit and its prestige. I wouldn't mind going to UCSD at all, but UCLA just seems to be in a different world. I really really want UCLA and I really really want an SAT score of 2000+

So back to my question, is December worth it or do you think I can still make UCLA with a 1960?

It's in the middle of LA. Good luck getting lung cancer after the 4 years.
