<p>It’s that time of year. The men and women at the senior level have not started to compete yet. NPR did a story on them (since it’s the year before the Olympics) and said that for the first time since the 60s, the US may not have a medalist in the women’s event.</p>
<p>Are the US woman just not strong enough this go around? Aren’t Kimmie Meisner and Emily Hughes competing?</p>
<p>What about Mirai Nagasu, from California? Isn’t she competing? Didn’t she win the US women’s last year at only 14 years old? She won the junior title in 2007.</p>
<p>Kimmie Meisner and Emily Hughes dropped out due to injuries a few days before the competion began.</p>
<p>The lady interviewed on NPR said that since the rules changed, it’s all about jumps and little about artistry. She said that 15 year olds say that they peaked at 14. Lots more injuries. I guess the Japanese are the strongest in the world right now.</p>
