The value of an opinion

I’ve noticed that the number of posts that shows up with my screenname is actually only about 1/3 of my actual posts. My family often tells me my opinion is worth less than others’, but I didn’t know the word had gotten out.

Posts in the cafes aren’t counted in totals.

Oops. Thanks.

Sort of a related question:
Is there any point to getting to certain levels? I noticed the designation changes beside your name, but are there any perks or privileges associated with attaining a “master” posting status?

Nope. But you look cool, and that’s all that really matters. ;)

corranged, lol.
You look:
a. like you have a lot to say
b. like you are extremely helpful
c. like you have a lot of time
d. all the above

They triple your pay when you hit 1000.

Wow, Weenie–and look, you’re approaching 3000! Wonder what kind of multiplier that’ll get you!

weenie

Your comment made me smile and also reminded me of years ago when I was the Coordinator of Volunteers at my kids’ elementary school. We sent out a list to parents at the beginning of the year which detailed the myriad of volunteer opportunities available to them. I had one phone call from a parent who wanted to know what each job paid! All I could think was, if only! :)

Weenie, my thoughts exactly. Actually, I was going to say something more like, “Well, senior members get paid,” and then see what kind of reactions I got.

Guess I need to put my glasses on. I thought that said, “Senior members get laid.”

You got a reaction from me!!!

It’s an interesting system that promotes one based solely on volume of output, with no regard to quality. Must be a union thing. :-)

And if you’re reeeeeeally prolific, you can get the granddaddy volunteer job of them all, with hours and hours to waste – oops! spend – on CC. :)

Zimmer - LOL

I’m certain I would have attained the rank of super-poster long ago, but everytime I post on a thread it dries up. I feel like typhoid mary.

Well I was off in the world of typhoid shots yesterday so I will save you double…

On post counts: I recall that I reached 1,000 twice because the first time I reached it the thread was deleted! When a thread is deleted, post counts fall.

As one who volunteers regularly for a variety of thankless tasks, when ever anyone complains, I tell them that they are "getting every penny’s worth they are paying me, and if they don’t like the service “to feel free to dock my pay or fire me!” My children have heard this more than once, believe me!!! The same hold true for cc…our advice is worth what we are paid for offering it up!

doubleplay, I’m glad someone has taken over my job! For the first couple of years I was posting it seemed as if a thread died every time I posted. I just don’t post as much now, especially on threads I’d like to see continue.

over30 (gosh I wish I could JUST say over 30)
You must be doing a good job if you have over a thousand posts!
