Unfortunately, after some 550,000 hits, the video has been taken don’t…don’t bother with the link above. Not sure how to erase the post as it is now moot…
Here is another link to the video for now https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-dPYMafBcug
Also a link to an article that explains what happened to the original video http://www.mlive.com/news/ann-arbor/index.ssf/2015/05/u-m_grads_amazing_rendition_of.html
Yet more “controversy” and a link to the video…
What controversy?

The dean’s objections were…objectionable. I do not understand why he had any misgivings to start with.
It had something to do with protecting the students who are in NYC performing at the annual Senior Showcase. I believe this rendition of The Victors was to be used as their final act.
A lot to do about nothing. The article states, Wagner (department chair) later agreed it should be visible on FB and said the parent (Orr) may remove the privacy settings so it is again may be seen by all. This rendition is joyful and heartfelt as it was done on graduation day and shared by parents of the grads. Personally meaningful to me to as that was the day my oldest graduated.
@Alexandre - The dept chair (Wagner) was concerned (rightfully, I think) about the bootleg video because it may show some of his students in less than their best voice. The NYC showcase is not a concert, it’s an audition in front of Broadway casting directors and casting agents, and for the Musical Theatre students, it’s a culmination of 4 years of work - like a capstone. This can, and for Michigan students often does, lead to their big break in the industry, so there is a lot of effort to control all aspects, including control of the content. (maybe too much). Ironically, IMO, the informal setting of the video matched with the terrific voices matched with the excellent musical arrangement made it magical and all the nice things @wayneandgarth said above. In the end, no harm done I think, and the Michigan kids will continue to find success on the NYC stages. Go Blue!
Makes sense. I guess the dean just wanted to make sure the video did not harm the students or the program before approving its public release. It was a pretty cool video once the kids got going!
