The "Vocal Fry" Another crisis to mull over?

Until two hours ago, I had never heard of the “vocal fry”. Now I am greatly concerned (heh). The “vocal fry” is a speech pattern being popularized by the likes of the Kardashians and Britney Spears. (Hopefully, this is the first and last time the Kardashians have appeared on College Confidential.)

This speech pattern is said to popular with college girls. Your thoughts?

I know many females who talk that way but it’s not a new phenomenon. I first noticed it when I was a college student back in the seventies. I still hear it a lot, though, and to me it’s like nails on a chalkboard. I’ve never heard a guy talk that way, though.
