Andover website says after Feb 1st application is only for waitlist space. Why they still want to increase their WL size? I think they should already have more than enough WL number, interesting.
Iām assuming theyāre looking for specific buckets, which will vary from year to year. Regardless, itās lottery-level odds for anyone but a very specific applicant
Iām wondering if I should send Milton another letter of continued interest. I have graduation updates, as I received a couple of awards then, and other news that may increase my chances. I sent the first one in April, a few days after the candidate reply deadline. My parents are getting impatient (lol) and they want to call the admissions office. Is this a good idea, and if so, what are the appropriate questions they should be asking? Any information about the Milton waitlist status and how to increase my chances of getting off would be appreciated as well.
ik this was a lot, thanks in advance!
The questions to ask now is whether they maintain an extended/summer WL, and if you need to do anything additional to remain on it.
While it may seem like a common courtesy to let applicants know the WL has closed, not every school does this. Some work on the old-school premise that unless you hear from them, youāre not accepted.
Bumping for 2025
in this letter should I include tat I got into 10/13 I applied to but theyāre my top choice
That is not helpful info for them. If you would definitely attend if offered a spot, yes, say so. But you may want to let the dust settle for a day or two as that may not be true when you learn what some of the 10 offer!
I already sent my letter⦠I just included that the school was by far my first chioce, and I would undoubty attend if taken off the waitlist.
okay!
No. Donāt say anything about where you did or did not get in.
Iām sure this is mentioned elsewhere in this thread, but for the benefit of other users - donāt send a letter today. Ot tomorrow. Or this week. No movement on the WL is happening this week, so demonstrate that youāve reflected on your response instead of knee jerk checking a box
Oh uh Iāll just send another letter during April
is it okay to assume that if I got into many T10 schools id be a competitive applicant on the wl
How can someone be a competive applicant on the WL, when its not ranked?
Sure. But you should still assume the WL was a soft rejection and commit to a school that accepted you. Love the school that loves you back
No
The waitlists are not ranked. You will need to fit the bill of what they are specifically looking to fill. Obviously enough schools see promise and readiness in you, but remember there are tons of students like you. I suggest you try to love the schools that loved you. Revisit days may also deprioritize your feelings. Often first choices change even after acceptances as the mystic or reputation are dulled as you try to find the home that will be a strong/best fit. Can not emphasize this enough.
Also remember the large amount (as there are every year) of qualified students that are shut out from any school.
Try to celebrate and look forward vs backward.
If I would be considered a āwell rounded studentā with not many spikes that would fit me into a certain need or want and Iām ORM are my chances of getting off waitlist pretty much diminished.
if im a black fp girl would that be a possible open bucket?
did anyone get waitlisted @ sps?
