Agreed. With everything going on with the market and student visas, it wouldn’t surprise me if a bunch of families who put down deposits a month ago are now having second thoughts and might end up backing out. I think that this is the year to stay on the summer WL.

On a different note, you think that delay with Andover changed outcomes for other schools at all? Like, could that have changed how many kids ended up going to Exeter or Choate?

Also, I know Exeter went to their WL, but I’m not sure if they’re still pulling kids off it. (I know a 9th grader who just got in last week.)

Oh, you are so right about that! My friends and I applied (we are from Western Europe) and got accepted by some schools, but we are not sure if we are going. I guess I will take the risk only if I am accepted off the waitlist of my dream school, even though my family has already paid the deposit to another school.

Guys do you think it is a good idea to write an email to some schools and ask if they will accept someone from the waitlist? Because I don’t know if I should commit to another school

Only lawrenceville, Andover and Deerfield haven’t closed the WL, so I wouldn’t reach out unless it’s one of those and I know you already got off the Lawrenceville WL so it would be Andover and Deerfield.

Unless you are certain that you wish to attend the school you have accepted, it is advisable to remain on the waitlist. For instance, if you are on the waitlist for Andover and it is your first choice, it is best to stay on it.

Well as I understand there are still some schools with the open WL (Milton, Governor’s, Asheville, Emma Willard). At least they haven’t sent anything:(
