The Weather -- important

How is the weather there at Penn? I live in Portland, Oregon so the climate is very mild here in both summer and winter… and I hear it is extremely humid (compared to here) over there in the warmer days and really cold in the winter… But how is it really? Anybody from… say Florida or CA or even the northwest want to comment on it?

Climate is a fairly important part of the experience for me, which is why schools in California were my top choices but because they cost too much (Cal and UCLA gave poor aid) or rejected me (Stanford), it seems like I won’t be going there… although a free USC education still sometimes tugs on my mind – but a four thousand dollar Ivy education is also tempting. But the fact I feel like I want to go to CA really makes me want to know the weather because even when I visit next week, it won’t be a good example of how it will be during most of the school year.

;o

Well, I live about 20 mins from Penn and the weather really isn’t unbearable. It doesn’t get ridiculously humid around here until late may/june, but classes will be over by then so it isn’t an issue. Sometimes the winters are very cold, but last winter wasn’t too bad. We do get sizeable amounts of snow during the winter, but it’s all worthwhile because then we can pelt Drexel kids with snowballs =]

August, September, and October are pretty nice, as are March, April, and May around here - weather is from 50-85 ish during those months. Winters can get as cold as 0, but those days are rare. Usually winters are like 20-30 degrees, and it goes under 10 rarely.

Compared to the weather at Cornell, for example, Penn could be considered a vacation spot.

we have weird weather. it snowed today. this past weekend, the temperatures reached 70 degrees F.

nonetheless, i know many people from california and oregon that love it here; it’s nice to come to a place that has distinct differences between all 4 seasons.

what was up with the *ing snow today? seriously… i am from houston and i have not gotten used to this *… campus is gorgeous this month however even with the freak snow event lol

Haha, yeah, it was practically a blizzard!

Haha. It flurried for like 10 minutes.

I <3 having seasons.

Jesus Christ, weather is the worst thing i could imagine picking a college for–it’s right up there with US News rankings

Today’s weather was beyond strange! I went to school late and it was perfectly sunny and gorgeous. 10 minutes later…HAIL AND SNOW? Fun things like that happen at Penn.
