The Wizard of Oz and US hist SATII

I have seen someone mention that the wizard of oz was on June’s Sat ii. i have never seen the movie (shock, gasp), so can anyone tell me what this movie has to do with US history?? any symbols and metaphors or whatever??

thanks

It’s one of the Great Depression-era movies that represent the escapist sentiment that encapsulated Americans.

oh ok…kool
what is the film about and any other connections?

L. Frank Baum wrote The Wizard of Oz at the turn of the century and the movie was made almost four decades later. I’m not sure that linking the premise of the film to the “Great Depression” is appropriate.

My daughter took it and mentioned that there was a question on The Honeymooner’s (her father’s favorite show) but didn’t say anything about the Wizard of Oz.

i took it last june, and i’m pretty sure there was a wizard of oz question

btw, know that the movie related to the coinage of silver

ok how was it related to coinage of silver…im assuming its pro-silver

yeah, my economics class read about the book/film in comparison with the populists if you wanted to read up on them

Search wikipedia.com for the wizard of oz.

i took the satii on october and it wasn’t on it…
