The Worst College Campuses You Have Seen...

i’m surprised more people haven’t mentioned CSU-Long Beach. blehhhhh.

^ then you haven’t seen Cal State Dominguez Hills.

University of Wisconsin-Madison. I don’t get why everyone think’s it’s so amazing… I thought it was ugly and too busy.

While a part of it is really nice, most of Michigan State’s campus is pretty bad too.

Worst of the schools I actually toured: University of Michigan - Don’t get me wrong there are some really beautiful parts of the campus, but it felt very disjointed (especially considering that the engineering campus was separate from main campus) and busy.

Worst campus that I know of: Cleveland State University - Think random office buildings strewn about in a dirty city.

Rutgers is unbelievably ugly. I’m from New Jersey and my dad works near New Brunswick. While it is an excellent school, it’s just…weird. None of the architecture matches, there’s barely any grassy areas, there’s a huge high way in the middle of campus. Basically, I’m applying next year because I’m in-state but I’m NOT going. My parents think it’s a good experience to go out-of-state anyway. Plus, New Jersey sucks and is overly expensive and they don’t want me getting sucked in after I graduate.

For me, Harvard was sort of disappointingly plain and MIT was pretty ugly. I liked Penn, Princeton, and Yale a lot though

^ Yeah, Harvard was a bit of a dump. I understand that many of the buildings are historic, but they look kind of sad and some of them smell strange.

The 7% of Harvard applicants who were admitted will likely be glad to put up with the “smell”.

Well, they all have their noses in the air anyway so why not?

University of Wisconsin-Madison. I don’t get why everyone think’s it’s so amazing… I thought it was ugly and too busy."

Because nobody else has this.

Or this–miles of mostly preserved lake frontage.

Hey, I’m just calling it like I see it.

^^ barrons, I think it was just too urban. The lakeshore area and union were really nice, but the rest of it seemed too integrated with the rest of Madison.

The 7% of Harvard applicants who were admitted will likely be glad to put up with the “smell”.

Hey, I’m just calling it like I see it.

Harvard folks would probably say it’s the smell of old money; others might say it’s the smell of runaway pretentiousness.

“The weirdest college (or whatever) we saw was the Virginia Military Institute. It was like a weird fortress.”

Gee, a MILITARY college that looks like a fortress. What a shock!!

I agree with everyone else who said Drexel. Granted, I never officially visited, but we drove by on our way to UPenn…

Contrary to some other posters, I thought Georgia Tech was decently pretty. You can’t expect much for being in Atlanta, and there was a lot of green space. :)

I also feel like Emory was very hit and miss. Some of its buildings were beautiful, others, not so much. :/
