The Zant Cheer Up Thread

Well Zant, I must say, I am still very depressed that you have not cheered up, as your happiness seems to come in spurts.

As I have said time and again, you have all the essentials to get in to the top schools in the country. Brown, Georgetown, Yale, Columbia - there are no applicants more qualified than you. It’s a crap shoot, and if you play the field, acceptances will come pouring back in…

Two years ago, the valedictorian at my school applied ED to Yale and was deferred. He ended up not only getting into Yale RD, but in to Harvard, Swarthmore, Dartmouth, Brown, and many more. A deferral is not the kiss of death!

Your happiness determines my happiness, so I must attempt to cheer you up now before you slip into a state of no return. You are my life! I <3 you! We have been through too much as it is, you can’t let it all go away now.

You are right, Princeton DOES suck…because they didn’t take so many applicants I wanted so badly to be my peers. But this is not the end, we have a whole other cycle to go through, and I will be waiting to hear of your fate to all the schools you applied to!

<3 <3 <3 CHEER UP!!! <3 <3 <3

Zant,

Listen. You know about baby boomers, right? Baby boomers had children, creating a baby boomlet. The most affluent, educated bottleneck of college applicants ever to hit the Ivies. You and so many others here are part of a numbers game. You must not take this personally. MUST NOT.

AND…where you go to college does NOT determine your success or your happiness.

But I know it’s so much easier to say it than to believe it.
