Anyone know if these R1A classes are any good/easy/fun?
Thanks!!

I took R1A for TDPS. My GSI’s area of study was post-colonial performance and globalization. We mostly read plays containing the central theme of colonialism, some short stories, and poems. Wrote 3 major essays, and a few short ones.

What you read and write about relies largely on who you get as a GSI.

We had a couple of short essays (2-3 pages) and three long ones (4-6, 5-7 pages). We also had to attend four plays on weekends (though these were pretty fun).

Try to choose a class that has a reading list that appeals to your interests. My GSI had us read Shakespeare and various other plays. I’m not really a fan of Shakespeare. Some of the essays were pretty difficult/slow to write since I had no interest in the subject matter. :x

My GSI also had us act out scenes from what we were reading. One we could use a script and the final one we had to memorize. At first it sounded like a chore, but they were really fun to do.

Thanks so much! Did it say shakespeare readings in the description? haha I really don’t like shakespeare readings too
my topic is social protest performance. so i’m guessing the majority of it is essay writing and acting out performances.
