Hi there!

I am a 21 year old undergrad student who will be finishing up her BA in French in the fall of 2006. I am interested in grad school for the fall of 2007.

My goal is to open up my own theater company. Since I did not get my undergrad in theater, I would like to explore a BA program. I want to do something kind of unique and educational theater in the community is a program I’d really like to do, however, I think just getting an MA could suffice as I know they have classes in theater for social change.

I have not done a production since the Summer of 2004, but I have been doing theater on and off since I was seven. I have written a couple of things (one of which MAY be produced at my school…we shall see!), done a few crew assignments and acted in tons of shows. I am not necessarily looking at musical theater as while I am working on my voice in private voice lessons and sing in a university choir, it is not up to the par it would be for other musical theater specific people…its not a Broadway-bound voice!

I decided not to pursue theater as an undergrad because I wanted to explore other areas of interest and see if there was another line of work I would like to try. But there wasn’t!

NYU’s grad program in Educational theater is something i am very interested and Hunter seems to have a good theater program.

Emerson has a very good and specific program, although I’m not so sure I want to be in Boston, I’d prefer to be in NYC.

What other schools in NEW YORK CITY specifically have something that I would be interested? I’ve asked this at other forums and gotten schools in Canada and London and classical acting degrees, blah blah blah…ALL NOT what I’m looking for.

Specifically New York City schools which have an MA in theater. I’ve reached a dead end I feel!
