theatre major fail = northwestern fail?

I am an international student applying early decision to Northwestern as a theatre major. However, my high school resume isn’t very theatre-oriented since our high school choir requires A LOT of commitment and has international recognition, and I’ve sacrificed drama activities for it since I know I can’t get the same choir experience anywhere else ever again.

Am I right in saying a lack of theatre activities in high school basically guarantees that I won’t be accepted as a theatre major?

And if I get denied as a theatre major applicant, does that mean I’ve been denied by NU as a whole and I can’t, for example, be a performance studies major instead?

Yes, a denial of admission is a denial of admission- you can’t get into the University if you’re denied from your program of application.

If you’re that intense about Choir, why don’t you apply as a voice major? You can always change later. Though I believe that’s School of Music, not School of Communications, and may require an audition.

A lack of theatre activities does not imply that you won’t be accepted. A bad audition does. Work on your audition.

OP-my daughter is a theater major-a junior. She did not audition for Northwestern, rather just submitted her application/recs/test scores.

My fault then, sorry.

Apol

Did your daughter submit the Art Supplement or any type of performance DVD, CD? Or, did she just go with the app, recs and scores?

Capemom, until this year, there was no such thing as an Art Supplement, nor did Northwestern want (or accept, to the best of my knowledge) DVDs or CDs. Admission, even to the theatre program, was based off the application, essays, test scores, grades and recommendations.
