I have been very involved in my schools Thespian Troupe during high school. I’ve landed several lead roles such as Farquaad in our production of Shrek the Musical. I really enjoy theatre, but I’m planning on going into Chemical Engineering. I was hoping there might be some way to capitalize on any available scholarships. The problem is I can’t find any scholarships… I was hoping the good people on these forums could help out.

I don’t know of any theater scholarships for non-majors. I don’t see why a theater dept would award to non-majors. The purpose of their scholarships is to get great theater majors attending.

It sounds like you need scholarships to afford college, so why not look where majoring in ChemE would get you great scholarships???

“SAT: 2130 (plan to take again)”

You could get some good scholarships for ChemE at some schools. Not at UTexas, but at others.

There are schools that offer theater scholarships for non majors. The one I know of for sure doesn’t offer engineering, but it’s probably worth trying to search for schools with engineering majors that offer the same opportunity - you may turn some up!

Trinity University has a strong engineering program. Check out their automatic merit scholarships based on SAT & GPA. They also offer an audition-based theater scholarship. I believe you have to minor in Theater but this is easy to do at this liberal arts college. They stacked their scholarships so for our daughter, the price was lower than UT.

Check and see if they still offer early action. Two years ago they accepted apps using the common app or the TX app, she had an acceptance in Dec and we had a read on the finances.
