We thought that the two bad calls canceled each other out since there was one for each side - bad calls but neither would have made a difference in the outcome of the game. There also seemed to be many wrong at bat calls where a foul was labeled a strike and vice-versa. Seeing the proof that they were bad calls is somehow worse then just thinking they might have been bad.

Oh well, lets see what happens tomorrow night!

Bad calls, cuse? Are you referring to the home run which hit the camera? If the camera hadn’t been there, the ball would have been in the seats! musicmom, no need to nap through Joba’s innings. But, I would recommend a trip to the pantry when Phil is in the game. ;)

I didn’t actually watch the game, but one of the talking heads on Sportscenter was going on and on about bad calls. It is easier to blame the umps than to acknowledge that the Phils just weren’t prepared last night.

Well, on paper it looks good for the Yankees in game 4, Blanton vs CC.

Wonder if they will regret trying Lee on short rest. Time will tell, but I like the odds.

M3S- Yup, I want to root for Hughes but really, he got only one out and made Mariano come in and throw 5 pitches for the last two? Guess it shows that the old man with vast experience is still superior to most of the young guns out there!

musicmom,
I suppose you know that “Enter Sandman” is played at Yankee Stadium whenever Mariano enters the game. When we are home, as opposed to at the stadium, when Mariano enters the game, we cue up Enter Sandman on the computer and blast it for a couple of minutes. Yes, we are a bit nuts. I was so happy that Mo only needed to throw 5 pitches last night. Presumably, he could be used for an inning tonight.

Glad to have found you M3S! Keep it a few more games, I’m sure Mo can hear your computer blasting!

For a bit, I thought I’d stumbled off of I95 into Philly here on CC.
Gotta get up for work in am so I wish CC and the the crew can keep it crisp.

musicmom - You mean Phillies might regret not trying Lee on early rest? If Blanton loses today, it will look pretty good for the Yankees. It’s a big gamble, I think.

Of course, you have it right. I know that the talking sports heads are saying that Lee has NEVER started on short rest…but wonder if the Phillies might regret NOT trying it now.

It IS the World Series and after next week, everyone will have plenty of rest!

And we all know how well Lidge did this season. The shift was the turning point. Heads up running by Damon. Gotta give him his props. Chollie muffed that one…

I just hope the Phillies make a come-back tonight. The only good thing about yesterday was the blow-out by the Eagles over the Giants. I thought for sure that meant the Phillies would come through too. :(

I am so torn here…do I give up my chance to witness history in person on Wednesday night in Yankee Stadium at Game 6, or do I “allow” the Yankees to finish it off tonight against Cliff Lee? Seriously, it will be tough to beat Lee since he has been so lights out.

The Yankees opened up the Stadium last night for anyone who wanted to come in and watch the game on the big scoreboard from the field level seats or in the Great Hall on the enormous screen. Apparently, 9,000 people took them up on their offer.

woody, I do think that Damon will be re-signed. I think that it is Matsui who will not be offered a contract as they would like to open up that DH slot.

My expectations have been revised. Now I just want ONE MORE WIN (tonight). Just give the home folks something… I DO think Phillies will win tonight, but even this die-hard Phillies fan has to say the Series is done. Time to wash the Phillies sweatshirt.

My disappointment was just a little lessened by the fact that the Eagles AND my hometown Titans won. The Titans were awesome- at last.

momof3 - Said like a true fan. I’m a bit jealous - H and S going to tonight’s game without me! Unfortunately, we could only get hold of two tickets and H IS the lifelong Yankees fan (with conflicted loyalties now that they are playing the Phillies). While he would like the Series to be a contest for the Phillies, he probably won’t be too sad to see the Yankees win, either.

S is not conflicted and is definitely hoping for a Phillies win tonight. Realistically, the chances of them winning three in a row are pretty slim at this point, though.

I’m a Mets fan & personally couldn’t care less which team wins this Series, but DH is a diehard Yankees fan & today is his birthday, so, if the Yanks are going to win anyway, it might as well be tonight.

Would LOVE to see the Yankees win it at home in their new stadium.

And I probably will get my wish the way Lee has been pitching…

M3S- I heard about the open invite to watch on a big screen at the stadium. If we weren’t out here in the hinderlands of NJ, it would have been cool t go.
