Thematic Option + Architecture

Hey, so I’m an entering architecture major hoping to either double major or minor in a yet to be decided field and I find thematic option to be a very interesting opportunity and I was wondering how difficult it would be to manage all of that.

I can’t really answer your question but I do know this. First year arch is quite demanding and time intensive. Last year one of my D’s roommates, who is an Arch Student, had a very heavy schedule to the point that she was hardly ever in the suite, coming back very late at night more often than not. Lots of demanding projects and studio time.
D does not know of any students in the TO program at least in the classes she has taken, though there may be.
However, if TO appeals to you, you could try it. There is no commitment to stay in the program and it’s easy to switch to regular GEs if it doesn’t work out.

As for a double major, I believe that would be very challenging both timewise and in fulfilling the requirements of both over 5 years. A minor may be doable.
You could always see how things go in the next year, or two, and add a minor if it works out.

I know of one architecture major that was in TO, but they dropped out a semester in because of the workload. TO is a very time consuming choice, in my opinion, so you would have to be very diligent to juggle both. Best of luck to you. :)
