<p>BruinMichelle at least for a while I’m going to stay out in Santa Clarita and commute… I want to go to law school, and am trying to save money whereever possible, and this seems to be my cheapest option.</p>
<p>oh dont commute, you miss out of so much of wat UCLA has to offer in terms of “college life” sorta. PLUS LA traffic is KILLER!! 10 and 405 =X ur going to be stuck in it for HOURS</p>
<p>Niwatori…“college life” is a myth. I’ve already experienced all of that years ago. As I’ve said a hundred times…everyone has to commute. you can’t live in the Westwood bubble (which is a lovely bubble, of course) the whole time you’re at UCLA. That’s a ridiculous notion.</p>
<p>have you ever heard of off-peak traffic? Don’t fault someone for wanting to save money, which brings me to my next comment. I know what LA traffic is like…I’m there every week and I’m sure allena knows exactly what he’s getting into.</p>
<p>Allena, sounds great! I think that’s a fabulous idea. Why on earth are we talking about nuisance of traffic…we’re from Southern California (I assume), we should be used to it by now. lol That’s the great thing about UCLA, you can get involved in clubs and activities that fit anyone’s schedule.</p>
<p>Niwatori, I’m sure you mean well…but it just seems that everyone is putting down commuting yet what do they plan on doing when they have a job which is outside of West LA. It’s called life…lol</p>

<p>I’m going to disagree with you here. If you can live no further than Palms your whole time at UCLA, and just take the Big Blue, do so. I’m very against having a car at UCLA, because I think it causes more problems than it solves.</p>

<p>I agree with you. I’m sifting out my options as well, belive me, but heck it’s 5 months away and all. Furthermore, you’re right…a car is quite the responsibility and hassle, but everyone’s situation is different and I think Allena wanting to save money is just showing how determined he is to get to UCLA which I applaud.</p>
<p>Second, honestly…maybe people are looking at UCLA with rose-colored glasses right now and will have a better perspective once they talk to students, such as yourself, and see just how appropo it is to get yourself a place down there and…see home on the weekends?</p>
<p>I’m sure people will do what they must and what they should eventually…I’m just saying that for some commuting is the only option. I should buy a condo and rent it out ;-)</p>
<p>Well, there is something to be said about financial reasons to stay at home. However, if you live in the San Fernando Valley, for the love of all that is holy, leave!!! It’s a pit! I’m SO SO SO SO glad I left.</p>
<p>Anyway, living on your own will teach you so much more than just how to buy your own beer. It will give you a sense of maturity and responsibility that even a room in the guest house can’t match.</p>
<p>If any transfers can afford it, please please live in university housing (read: apartments) the first year. It was the best experience of my life. And that is even after the rose colored glasses turned…umm…slightly-less-rose-colored.</p>
<p>I’d love to…but now I have to choose between UCLA and Cal. I hate this…lol. But goes to show that a person can get into both. ;-)</p>

<p>UCLAri…yes, thank you very much. I was terribly ambivalent and un-excited about it this whole time, you know me, I’m a Southern California girl through and through, however…shoot, that’s such an amazing privilege.</p>
<p>I only came on CC about three weeks ago and I had no idea just how badly people wanted to get into Berkeley and UCLA. Perhaps I hang around people who are not ambitious in that way like I am…I forgot how nice it was to have that kind of goal. Anyway, I will investigate Cal a little more, but I’m set on UCLA. ;-)</p>
<p>Cal is a great opportunity. However, UCLA is a great opportunity as well. </p>

<p>Allena, I think you’re right! I’d be terribly homesick if I went all the way to Berkeley, and frankly…if I ever thought about going to grad school, Berkeley would kill those chances…lol. I hear it’s pretty tough, to say the least…</p>
