Theory of reset and how to survive it

I cannot help but think we are dealt with a lot of resets, particularly at major stages after big decisions.

For example, by going to a top BS, we are peers with people just as smart and competitive as us, and the order of excellence has to be reestablished and re-earned. Some will do well and some will not. There will be a lot of adjustments and growing up along the way. This reset will happen in college, at work and in life again and again. The funny thing is the winner of an earlier reset is not guaranteed to win the next reset, and worse yet, the winner of the 3rd reset may end up no better than the loser of the 1st reset. As someone said in another thread, people going to top BS then Ivies may end up working for people who never went to BS or Ivies.

So how do you see these resets? Are they predictable or totally unknown-able? If it is the later, why do we have to be serious about anything?

In closing, have you been reset lately?! :D

I kind of understand what you mean… but I like to think of it more like a new beginning, and not a necessarily a new ‘race’ to be the best. It’s a chance to change the things that you don’t like about yourself, to be a new person and try new things without people judging you. It’s also an entirely new experience, and you get to meet so many different people.
