I saw him deliver the lines on the news. It was beyond funny/embarrassing . It reminded me of the movie where the Dan Quayle-ish character started reading the lyrics to Muskrat Love in the middle of a speech. Where in the heck were Wu’s handlers? I can’t begin to tell you how awful it came off. It was like an SNL skit.

You decide upon the advent of their mutual conventions.

Awww, come’on FS. Lighten up and have a chuckle. It was funny stuff whatever the party.

How much lighter can one get than to draw the essence out of the socially challenged trekie and recover its features in a weird and misanthropic ritual called the Democratic Convention; replete with faux-kissing, faux-battle-hardened heroes, colored balloons, slogans and party hats?

Oh, I don’t know. How about the hate-mongering war hawks and their chemically and surgically altered Stepford wives sipping Chivas and debating whether to buy another Lexus with their tax break or nuke Iran with more deficit spending? Or both? Now that’s a convention. Boo-yah. ;)

Sure, but how about the Republican convention?

You mean there aren’t Klingons in the White House?

I liked your post, tsdad. Thanks for sharing.

FountainSiren–Just who are those “faux battle-hardened heroes” you think might participate in that farce known as the Democratic convention? Might you be referring to former Senator Max Cleland, a silver star honoree who lost both legs in Vietnam? He’s as “faux” as they come, I’ll agree. Or Medal of Honor winner Bob Kerrey, who pretends to have lost an arm in battle? Or maybe it’s four-star general Wesley Clark who deserves our sneering contempt, along with that useless silver star recipient Charles Rangel, WWII submarine officer Jimmy Carter, Strategic Air Commander Tom Daschle, or that liberal relic from the past, George McGovern, a Distinguished Flying Cross and Silver Star recipient? What a bunch of weak-sister wimps they are, and how dare they be put on display as war heroes? Let’s turn the Republican slime machine on them, you know–that delightful Swift Boat “Truth” squad that so efficiently trashed John Kerry a few years back.
Now consider those courageous, battle-scarred, “non-faux” guys who may take the stage at the Republican convention–the Bush brothers, Cheney, Wolfowitz, Delay, Frist, Santorum, Hastert, with support from their journalistic cohorts O’Reilly, Hannity, Limbaugh, Savage, Coulter. … Oops. My mistake. None of these guys served a day in the military. Except for W., who made the airspace over Texas safe and secure for a couple of years during Vietnam. Yep, nothing “faux” about them.

I think this guy is a faux congressman

Wu is from my state–but not my district. A Stanford grad, too. I read about what he said in the paper. (haven’t checked out the link) He said he knew as soon as he said it that it was a mistake. He also said he knew his wife would be on him for it; she is NOT a trekkie, apparently.

I could actually see my dh saying something like that…

Ha! Nothing faux about those republicans that’s for sure. Wait - can you say Jeff Gannon??? (He’s still my fave.)

“…but unlike the real Klingons of Star Trek, these Klingons have never fought a battle of their own.” hehe, now that’s what I call funny.

Anyone see the Daily Show commentary on it? It’s surely a must-see! I can’t seem to find it on YouTube easily, if anyone can find it, please post it :)

Is this it ophiolite? Third video down on last night’s highlights. Very funny.

It’s not all Grrrrrrrrh! Yarrrrrh!

You’re right. Plus, I went off subject. I was in a bad, bad mood when I through my cyber-fit. Must remember to stay off the computer when my sense of humor is on hiatus!
