Just wanted to remind everyone here that just because you didn’t get into the school you wanted doesn’t mean your life is over. I’ll admit, I’m a firm believer in hard work and perseverance. And you should always try your best. But if you don’t get into your top choice, and you honestly feel like you gave it your all, then don’t be discouraged. Everyone falls a little short sometime. As long as you tried your best, you should have no regrets. I think we, as Americans (more specifically, as Californians) are a little spoiled when we talk about education. There are so many great schools out there. Just because Berkeley or UCLA doesn’t accept you doesn’t mean you can’t receive a top education. The next 2-3 weeks will be very stressful for all of you. In a perfect world, we will all attend the school of our choice. But we live in the real world. No one ever gets everything that he wants. So remember, the things that you get while achieving your goals is not as important as who you become by achieving your goals. I’ve had a long week. So to conclude, here’s a quote I like from Conan.

“Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard and you’re kind, amazing things will happen.”

I am really amazed, i agree with your sentiment completely and i appreciate your post. it is a great message and thank you for reminding us that there are more important things in life than our dream school.

I like the new Lakersforever24, he is open minded and existentialist.

Great thread, people on this site believe that if they go to ucla/berkeley everyone will praise their intelligence, that they will be happy and all of the people they meet will be smart, and that magically all their dreams will come true

I was buying some beer on Tuesday to celebrate my acceptance to UC Davis. The cashier at the grocery store gave me crap about how I was gonna have extra calories thanks to the beer and I said I was celebrating UC Davis and everyone around me in unison congratulated me with big praise.

Laker, that’s loser talk. UCB and UCLA aren’t even the best schools in the nation. You should not settle for less. Interesting how you quoted Conan. The man got to where he is because he went to Harvard (it’s true).

^random, but he gave an awesome speech for some graduating class of harvard a while back if i remember correctly…don’t remember which class it was though lol
