Didn’t think those windows opened.
Why people do this? Some are just off their meds (like the Seattle tree sitter).
Pretty sure they cut them out…
Very preliminary report so take it with a grain of salt:

Cutting out the window would potentially make for some pretty sharp edges…
There is a video of a cut-out window almost falling on the climber.
Everything about this capture looked dangerous. As long as no one in the ground was on danger, I’m not sure why they wouldn’t just wait for him to get to the top or whatever.
ETA: I live in an extremely flat part of the country and have never been to NYC. I have no idea how close buildings are to the roads or anything like that.
If his goal was self promotion, sounds like he was successful in achieving his goal. Seems hysterically ironic that he would select the ultimate self promoters monument to himself, to be the one to scale for his self promotion. Certainly makes sense.
There was a guy who climbed skyscrapers all the time back in the 80’s, I think he even climbed the Petronus towers in Kuala Lumpur. Alain something?
Found him! The French Spider man:
@romanigypsyeyes the building is separated from the road by a double wide sidewalk…that’s it.
Just read about this here, now, and this guy came to my mind right away–even remembered his name: George Willig
:)) :)) :))
You have to wonder how much this stunt cost the city, with all the manpower involved and such, and the cops risks their lives to pull that guy in. According to the papers the motive appears to have been he wanted to meet Trump, but whether he was pro or anti remains a mystery. If he was doing it for self promotion all he did was promote the idea he was a moron, whatever the other motivations were, climbing at the time he did he was guaranteed to fail miserably, he didn’t get very far to say the least.
I wonder if the networks had a time delay on their coverage. I personally wouldn’t want to witness someone falling to their death off a high rise.
The police did put huge cushions at the bottom.
