These 51 Days Will Be Long (Prose Poem)

There are 51 days until March 10.

51 days filled with anticipation, with hope, and with doubt. 51 days spent suffering through boring and easy classes that assign busywork under the name"homework." 51 nights spent planning the order in which I will complete my busywork, only to abandon plan and begin after 8:00.

These 51 days will be long.

There will be good days, bad days, days that are neither. There will be confident days where I wonder why I wouldn’t get in everywhere and doubtful days spent wondering why I would.

These 51 days will be long.

There will be lip-biting days where all I taste is blood, and busy days full of distractions to free my mind of March 10.

These 51 days will be long.

There will be snowy days, numb toes, and slipping on ice. There will be days that smell and feel like spring, only to return to winter a day later.

These 51 days will be long.

But while these 51 days will have ups and have downs, life will go on.

Spring will come.

Summer will come.

Fall will come.

But these 51 days will be long.

Anyone going to the Andover open house ma

I’ve been twice previously. The cocoa and marshmallows are excellent. It looks like the weather will cooperate and it won’t be too cold running around campus. At the talent show for students, they throw out Andover t-shirts to the audience. It will be fun.

This is beautiful. I absolutely love it.

This is amazing - it seriously just made my day.
But I advise you not to keep track of the time . . . I didn’t even know that there are 51 days left.
I know what it feels like to make a calender and cross off every day in anticipation, as if crossing it will bring you closer to that one moment you’ve been waiting for. But 51 days is a long time, and believe me, waiting for each day to pass is boring as hell. You can go learn a new language, make new friends, write a book, eat a lot of food (that’s on my agenda), become an acrobat, etc. I’m trying not to focus only on M10 because there are so many other things to do.
Anyway, you are really, really amazing writer. :)

Thanks! It means a lot. I think your post is a little ironic, considering your username. :)

@redbluegoldgreen There was hot chocolate and marshmallows, but no free shirts. They ended up selling a bunch of umbrellas, though, because no one expected it to snow.

I would be wasting time on CC and reading this. The line about starting homework after 8:00 is pretty relevant right about now…

We had a spring day last week! It snowed almost a foot today. I was right.

33 more days!!!

I’m procrastinating on CC instead of writing my 3 essays…wow

When you say 33 more days it sounds like its just around the corner, but sadly its not. At least February is the shortest month of the year.

I agree. 33 sounds short, but yet so excruciatingly and agonizingly and (insert choice of painful adverbs here) long. We should make an adaptation of that Alvin and the Chipmunks song about Christmas, but replace Christmas with M10. And all of those toys with acceptance letters.

30 days, says son. Who apparently has the countdown app going on… :-SS

Me too, @booklady123! I had it to the second, but it got annoying. One of the backgrounds on my app is a bucket of popcorn with two “admit one” tickets on it–that’s the one I chose! If only I can get two “admit ones” come March 10!

27 more days!!!

The anticipation is killing me! Where are you guys from? Just curious! I’m living in Beijing but from New York

We’re already halfway through and these next few weeks will be quick, but the week of March 3rd will kill me with suspense!!!

^This week just started and it has already been killing me!!! But the past 19 days did go by quickly!

I live in New England

I’ve like been avoiding this site just to not think about it. Obviously it didn’t work.

Fingers crossed, looks to stars
