New Jersey’s four-year colleges and universities reported 84 rapes on campus in 2014, according to new federal data.

Rutgers University, the state’s largest university, reported 32 rapes on its New Brunswick-Piscataway campus, the most in New Jersey and tied for seventh highest in the nation, according to an analysis of the new data by the Washington Post.

I feel like this information is not all that useful - yet. Are these colleges more dangerous or are they actually good in that they encourage reporting by victims? We don’t want to be fooled by a Baylor-like situation in which everyone pretends that nothing bad is happening. Hopefully it won’t be long before every school is better at encouraging reporting so that the numbers can be compared.
