this is confirmed! many colleges will only take kids who did not apply for financial aid off the waitlist due to the fact that most of the financial aid money has been given out already. my friend got into wesleyan and he didnt get jack **** even tho he needs quite a bit. i certainly hope this is not the case for stanford. if i qualify for the no tuition thing, do i still get aid for the rest of the expenses if i somehow get in? like 15k more…

and is it definitely late may for the reply date? i gotta get my health info to cornell by june 12th.

Stanford has a need-blind admissions policy for U.S. applicants, so that means the admissions office isn’t supposed to have any knowledge of your financial situation when making decisions.

no respect for wesleyan? they aren’t exactly a third world community college. and if you really belive tis need blind crap, dont. I got a phone call about a week before the decision date from Berkeley asking me for some fin aid stuff. i asked the person if this phone call was an indication that i got in. he hesitated and gave me a very generic answer. sure enuff, i got in. do you think they wouldve bothered calling someone who got rejected for additional financial aid information?

like i said, i hope its not true for stanford, but u just never know

First of all, Wesleyan and Berkeley both have need-blind admissions as well. Secondly, I’m sure everyone believes they’re entitled to more financial aid than they receive, but you don’t know that Wesleyan would have more generous had he gotten in before the waitlist round. Thirdly, Berkeley makes all its decisions at once and don’t give them out over the phone, so they don’t really have the luxury of taking rich waitlisted students anyway, and their tuition is already low enough. I don’t know if you’ll get off the waitlist, but I suggest you tone down your sense of entitlement.
