They'll end up actors anyway : )

Cute link to where famous actors and actresses went to college and what they studied

[ABC News: Stars’ Other Lofty Pursuits](<a href=“- ABC News”>- ABC News)

Interesting that none of them majored in theater…

I have a friend whose son would make a wonderful theater major, but I think he feels disapproval from lawyer dad and so wouldn’t consider it. Maybe that’s what happened here – didn’t think a theater major sounded legit and so studied something else but then went back to a first love.

Let’s add to the list w/ actors at schools we are familiar with, i.e. schools our kids attend, we attended or work at. Do not make the list inclusive (or it will be too long). Include most famous or recently known folks.

Cornell-- Christopher Reeve (Superman)
–Jimmy Smits (West Wing, NYPD Blue, etc.)
– Bill Maher (Politically Incorrect)
–Catherine Hicks (Mom on 7th Heaven)

Bucknell University --Edward Herrmann (Dad on Gilmore Girls)
–Les Mooves (President and CEO CBS) kind of related.

nN?? one is going to add?

Uh-hem…well, ya see…I am HOPING my daughter DOES end up as an actor following her impending graduation from college!!!

Jimmy Stewart graduated from Princeton Univ. with a degree in architecture.

Know that Meredith Viera, William Hurt and Rainn Wilson (Dwight!) attended Tufts, though not all graduated. Wilson ended up at U of Washington, I think.

I’ll add JFK Jr (IMO one of the most handsome men ever, along with Gregory Peck…sigh) because supposedly he loved drama and acting, but his mother wanted him to do something more ‘respectable.’

I’m an alum of Tufts, and to my knowledge, William Hurt studied theater at Tufts.

Conan O’Brien
Stockard Channing
Matt Damon
Al Franken
Tommy Lee Jones
John Lithgow
Natalie Portman
Mira Sorvino

All Harvard (Damon didn’t graduate)

Did B.J. Novak (The Office) also graduate from Harvard?

^^Maybe. I don’t know because I don’t him. I haven’t watched that show.

I think he and the guy who plays Jim were high school friends. Jim (John Krasinski?) went to Brown, and Novak to Harvard.

And am pretty sure that Meryl Streep went to Yale (and supposedly dated one of the local dads here in town-- the closest thing we have to celebrity gossip).

I believe, however, that Meryl Streep’s undergrad degree is from Vassar. She attended the Yale School of Drama for her MFA degree.

Don’t know if William Hurt graduated from Tufts but he did attend Tufts. He was given an honorary doctorate in 2005 at the graduation. D1 graduated that year and she and her roommates didn’t really know William Hurt. However–all of the mothers knew him!!

Wanted to add Katherine Hepburn–she graduated from Bryn Mawr.

BJ Novak did graduate from Harvard, as did Rashida Jones and Elisabeth Shue (ten years after the rest of her class).

Jodi Foster also went to Yale.

Brooke Shields went to Princeton, didn’t she? But was an actress well before then.

Carnegie Mellon has a long list, including:

Zachary Quinto
Holly Hunter
Ted Dansen
Barbara Feldon
Jack Klugman
Blair Underwood
Laura San Giacomo
Judith Light
Frank Gorshin
Ren
