Sorry, I’m simply not a phone girl. I have an Iphone-- I think it’s the 4 or the 5. It’s one with the big, wide plug. I only have it because my husband upgraded and I took his old one. I use it primarily to text my kids. But I have no idea why some people seem glued to their phones all day every day; I simply don’t get the appeal.
To the best of my knowledge, the Pilgrims left England because of restrictions on their religious freedom there. They first went to Holland, where they were able to practice their religion as they wished. Actually, the situation in the Netherlands is a very interesting one, historically. The people of the Netherlands experienced religious repression (at the hands of the Spanish, I believe), but afterwards, instead of returning the oppression, they ensured religious freedom in their country. The Pilgrims were not able to thrive economically in the Netherlands, and they were concerned about the societal influences on their children, so they left for America. The concern about societal influences on their children does have religious connections. If you know differently about the Pilgrims, I would be interested.
Personally, I don’t care for “Carry on” at the end of a post. I don’t know whether it technically fits the category of “Things everyone’s crazy about,” but several posters use it (not just on this thread). It may be meant as a light-hearted comment, and it may be my reaction that is idiosyncratic.
