Things Millennials Are Killing vs. Boomer Use

Should have said “isn’t much better on my blood sugar than cereal with added sugar;”

Why is body wash better than soap? Seems like you’re buying water and plastic instead of not buying it.

Bar soap has wax in it, which ends up coating your shower or tub, making clean up more challenging. Since we switched to body wash, we don’t have the horrible scum that accumulates in the tub.

Others may be switching for different reasons, but this is the main reason for me.

Why is full fat yogurt preferred over low fat yogurt? I missed the memo on that one.

Soap has wax in it? I thought the recipe was lye, oil, and whatever fragrances you feel like. I don’t think the soap I use has any wax in it.

I put body wash in our guest room instead of soap, because replacing soap after one guest’s use seems really wasteful (and I wouldn’t leave used soap in a guest room-yuck). But DH and I both use soap in our personal bathrooms.

Full fat yogurt is better, to me, because I like it. Low fat yogurt is usually high sugar and contains all sorts of things to give back the texture. Plus whole milk is the natural home for the probiotic bacteria.

Yes, most lite yogurts replace the fat with fillers and sugar.

I prefer bar soap for myself. I brought back several bars of Savon de Marseille from Marseille and all my French relatives know when coming to visit to bring a couple bars here! I either use this or actually do like a bar or two at Trader Joe - like the Ginger Almond Oatmeal Exfoliant Soap. These soaps just feel “cleaner” than body wash - like literally feels better on my skin.

So bar soap is something I’m not killing!

I have two different brands of PLAIN lite yogurt in my fridge right now…I just checked the labels…and neither one has a speck of sugar or fillers in it…milk and yogurt culture.

Huh? Lower fat yogurt can be found without any added sugar.

A LOT of them have fruit/sugar added or fillers. Not all.

And how does that plain yogurt taste? Personally, I love unsweetened plain yogurts, but the majority wants something sweet in it. As soon as you add sweeteners to non-fat yogurt, you need to add some emulsifiers etc. Yoplait with zero fat and artificial sweeteners - yuck.

That is why someone looking to avoid added sugar in yogurt would look for plain yogurt, regardless of whether it is whole milk, low fat, or skim milk. Flavored yogurts pretty much always have added sugar, but plain yogurt is readily available.

The good thing about plain yogurt is you can add as much or as little sweetness as you want.

Skyr yogurt is another option if you want some sweetness but not too much.

@BunsenBurner The only plain yogurt I like is the yogurt I make at home from full fat milk. I strain the yogurt until it is very thick. It’s good with added fruit, jam, or honey, but it’s also good straight up plain.

I prefer plain whole milk Chobani, Oui, or Ellenos (heavenly!), but I will eat any other plain yogurt if nothing better is available. Note to self: make a stop at the market on the way home.

Cereal makers are returning to their sugary product…turns out those not so health conscious really didn’t like the stuff when it tasted like cardboard…https://www.cbsnews.com/news/why-cereal-companies-are-returning-to-sugar/

We use paper towels as napkins. I don’t want the napkin holder standing around where it will be pushed out of place or moved whenever anyone uses the family room table. We use nice paper napkins for ‘formal’ dinners. I have an assortment of colors and patterns from IKEA.

Turns out I still have 2 packs of the vanity fair luncheon napkins. Costco purchases last forever !
