Lerkin- I did put it in rice and used the hair dryer- but was hoping for extra solutions when I googled it…

takeitallin,

I missed the rice part. Stupid ADHD.

Note to myself: Next time read slowly and carefully.

takeitallin, at Michael’s they sell desiccate powder used to dry out flowers. It is the stuff in those little packets they tell you not to swallow that comes in some products. You could probably use that.

Never lean over swimming pool with new cell phone in pocket.

Never have kiddo leave newish cell phone and wallet on bench in U gym “for a minute” while going to the bathroom OR on the floor of theater, unless you want them to vanish.

On the bright side, H ways their office has more or less successfully revived about 50% of wet cell phones. S was able to use my drowned cell phone and lab partner’s dead cell (same model) to make a single working frankenphone.

Both kiddos are pretty good so far at hanging on to their new iPhone 5s.

Never lean over the boat to pick up something from the lake, while holding a cell phone in the same hand intended for picking up action.

If you and DH are each taking a little kid home from the family event/ sporting event/ etc in separate cars, make sure you don’t assume the other parent has kid #3, again and again.

When you say YES to DD riding with another Mom to the sporting event, don’t get in your car and drive 45 minutes without making sure the other Mom hadn’t left in the interim. :(

Re post #47. Never give the finger to anyone when in the car. I know someone whose husband gave another driver the finger, and got run off the road, almost killed for that.

^^I agree, mstee. That was 30 years ago, and I would never do something like that anymore. Nowadays, even a stressed out soccermom might shoot you!

If you are a college kid and using a credit card that is linked to your parents card…
Do not attempt to buy a kegarator online and give the credit card number to someone in Amsterdam!!!

S’s best friend, encouraged by their esteemed assembly of friends, actually did this. S said really seemed like a great idea at the time…hmmm.

If someone spills something on or near your closed laptop, DON’T OPEN IT. When it turns on, and the electricity (and the water) go shooting across the circuit board, it will fry itself and die. Leave it closed until it dries out!

And if you see something bright shooting through the sky, heading for an explosion on land, don’t walk over to the windows to watch. They’ll be gone soon and you don’t want that in your face (in honor of Siberian asteroid watchers).

Don’t assume that just because its October 31st, the rattlesnake in the garage is a Halloween toy prank.

eastcoastcrazy, you are right on! LOL.

Don’t spit into the wind. : D

Long time ago… pre-cellphone days:

Don’t take your 2 year old outside to use their riding toy while older child at nursery school and will need to be picked up soon… and lock you and 2 year old out of the house.

Don’t forget to open the garage door when you’re backing out of the garage - even if you’re late or pre-occupied. I’ve done this twice. Garage doors are expensive to replace.

Don’t rely on getting into the house with the garage door opener for the door spring is sure to fail someday and that day will be when you have 2 tired, hungry small children and thousands of dollars of PTA cash that you just want to stash away until the bank opens.

This morning’s contribution: don’t allow the dog to leisurely finish up what she’s doing when you see the neighborhood skunk approaching from across the street. (We made it.)
