Things to do in Savannah

Hotel on the river or in the historic district?

Historic district for sure. We stayed at the Kimpton Brice Hotel. It was very nice, lovely courtyard. Free wine happy hour from 5 to 7 each day. Just a nice way to begin the evening and go sit in the pretty courtyard. They have a nice restaurant, also.

Desoto. More central and historical.

We stayed in a b & b near Forsythe Park. Great location. I want to go back to Savannah…

I LOVE Savannah!!! We stayed in the historic district and I had the best time. My only negative is the Olde Pink House is totally overrated. It was probably the worst meal of the weekend. Honestly I think I could retire in the area when the time comes.

We went on a ghost tour in loved it. We also ate at a restaurant called Elizabeth on 34 or 37 th (cant remember exactly)
We also went on cemetery tour which was really interesting

That’s too bad @partyof5 . We really enjoyed the Olde Pink House and had a wonderful meal. They had one of the best bourbon cocktails I’ve ever had, too.

Ah, sorry I just saw this thread. Adding for anyone who may be going in the future:

My parents lived on one of the islands near Tybee. If you’re driving out there, our favorite family place to eat was the Crab Shack which is just over the bridge on Tybee. Mom and Dad liked the Pirate House but I never got there.

That is exactly what my parents did. Living in that area during their last years were their happiest I think.

@Otterma I fell in love with the city, I don’t think I’ve met a nicer group of people. Housing seems pretty reasonable as well.

I just returned from Savannah and thought it was great. We stayed in an AirBnb, looking over the river. The only negative of the entire trip was a bartender at the Cotton Exchange Tavern that was a bit of a jerk, but not enough to really be a problem. Great city.

Elizabeth on 37th
