Think ill be okay registering, and get my classes?

Of course, i’m going on vacation RIGHT when UW starts its Advising and Orientation sessions (june 20th) and i dont get back till the 28th so the first session i can do is june 30- july 1. I’m just going to be taking, most likely, chem 142, (general chem) and math 124 (calc) Do you think i’ll be okay getting this courses even though i have to wait about 2 weeks into the A&O’S?

I think you’ll be fine. I feel like when they mention choosing later orientation/advising sessions and therefore not having as wide of a class selection they are talking about the sessions toward the end of summer.

I’m more worried about how placement testing is going to affect my advising since I have to take it the morning of the orientations (I live way outta state).

the classes might be full anyways before any of the freshman orientations come up

but i feel like those courses are really common so that means they offer alot of them doesnt it? i’m interested in a FIG, like those cluster of classes that come pre packaged. so yeah id be pretty bummed if i didnt get those classes. just have to wait till next quarter? but i feel like starting the begining of a series second quarter would be weird cause youd have to take the third course after waiting for a summer you know? and for the placement testing why do you have to wait till the morning of? you out of state? or far away? and it says online if you do that youll be fine, you get your scores morning of second day, when you register.

@travelgirl although it does happen, there are very few people who take chem142 &math124 after their freshman year. it is completely possible to get those classes. june 30th-july 1st is still VERY early in the summer- you should be fine.
think of it this way- there are TONS of incoming freshman, many of whom aspire to go into engineering, premed, or some other science. and a huge majority will have orientation after you. chem 142 and math 124 are both prereqs for most (not all) science/engineering/premed majors… uw knows this and they make room accordingly.
i had orientation super early in the summer… but i changed around all my classes about halfway through the summer. i had no problems :stuck_out_tongue:
i was in a fig btw, didn’t enjoy the experience. the fig class is a huge waste of time, and i didn’t get much out of the experience other than an hour less of sleep the one day a week my fig class met and a few hours wasted spent doing fig homework. it’s not a hard class, but most would agree that it’s an annoying one.
also for placement testing if you’re in state you can do it before your orientation
