Hey, so, I have a post in the Chance me forum, but I feel I would get more attention from actual students here, therefor I’m going to post a little thing here.

GPA: 3.3 UW, 3.7 W (No Reason why I shouldn’t be getting a 4.0 this first semester, just so happens that’s when my easier classes are.) SATI: 610 W. 590 M, 560 CR (Retaking in Oct. I would’ve had a 750 in W had I written a better essay) SATII: RETAKING: **US History - *580 Lit - 570 World - 500 ACT: Taking in Oct. as well. Will be first time.

ECs:
-Marching Band 9-12
-Indoor Drumline 10-12 (Member of the first year it ran)
-Boy Scouts
-People to People Japan 2010
-Digital Arts Club 11-12 (Member of first year as well. Running for Pres. this year)

Cant think of any more, but those are the majority.

Honors:
-Eagle Scout

Community Service, etc, etc…7 AP Classes…

ANYWAY, to the point. How much do you think I need to accomplish in this first semester to have a good shot at admission? OR What did you have that got you accepted?

You either need to get your GPA up or your SAT up, you choose.
I had the exact same UW and W GPA as you but I had a 2190 SAT
score so you need to figure out which one you can work on easier.

Personally I think you should buy the big blue book of practice SAT’s from collegeboard and just do a test every day or every other day for about 4 weeks leading up to the exam, one where you can check the answers in the back and they show you how to get that answer. You’ll improve by huge jumps.

Hey, thanks for the response! Yeah, I went out and bought it the other day. I haven’t really had time for a test yet, but I’m going to do some this weekend. I also bought the SAT subject test book :P

Hopefully it does help improve my score and chance like you say it does.

Sorry to bring this topic back up, but I’ve been thinking. Do you think I’d be able to get in ED? I just took the SAT over again and will take ACT next weekend, so we’ll see how those are. Or do you think I’ll still have a better shot with my mid year grades in?

Bump! I’m just going to apply RD. My essay topic will either be my struggle with Math or my road to Eagle Scout. Soo, hopefully it’ll turn out well ^_^

do you essay on your eagle scouting. your struggle with math is kind of ordinary…a lot peole have problems in one particular subject area. i too have issues with math. you can individualize more with the scouting and make it more personal. good luck!

Just found my SAT scores for the October Test. I got a 1790 overall, 1210 M+CR. If BU only counts your best scores, I will have an 1810 overall. I took the ACT and I’m hoping for the best. Though, on the math section, I zoned out and forgot to guess the last five Math questions and ran out of time… How much could that hurt me? I’m personally hoping for a 28-31 overall, but we’ll see.

Do these scores help me at all chance wise? And does it matter if I have higher scores than 75% of my high school? I’m talking to people who are ranked like, 10th to 20th, and they have lower scores than me on the SAT.
