Third North vs. Greenwich Hotel????

I’m taking Summer courses in a month and after realizing that living without A/C at Brittany is a stupid idea, I want to file a building change ASAP. So I’m trying to decide Third North and Greenwich Hotel. (but I might be open to Broome if someone can convince me). So any input on whether i should go with Third North or Greenwich would be very appreciated.

3N
Pros: 24-Hour computer lab (I’m doing Film at Tisch so late night editings would be frequent); close proximity to Wash. Sq., the gym, whole foods, East Village

Cons: It’s filthy, I heard there are rodents and roaches even before you move on (some girl had to file to switch buildings after being in there for a night), it’s not as picturesque and scenic as g-ho, loud. Basically ITS DIRTY

GHO
Pros: It’s cleaner than 3N, picturesque walk, near the Hudson River which is great in the summer for jogging, biking, lounging (which I will frequent), better vibe, got the villagy feel that I want, hardwood floors and apartment-feel that I want, i have friends living here, near my favorite coffee stops like Joe’s and Domas

Cons: It’s kind of a far walk from school, isolated/far from the other dorms anything convenient (the gym, grocery–d’ag is next store but i want more options, etc), possibly sketchy after 11PM and I’m a late-night person and come home late

I’m open to Broome, and maayyybeee Palladium/U-Hall (but those are boring. I want to live somewhere kind of exciting)

The hotel has a maid service, but I hear that they will only come in if by request. If you are film, I would chose Third North because it is so close to the film classes. By the way, what year in film are you?

Yea, but Third North is so grossss. I’m going to be a Junior, but I’m an internal transfer to film so i’m taking sight & sound film with david irving

Side question: What SLR camera will you be using for sight and sound?

SLR cameras are used in Digital Frame and Sequence (freshman year). We’re using 16mm arriflex

are you an incoming freshman?

Yeah. Don’t internal transfers have to start at the freshman level?

nope, they start at the sophomore level in the summer (mandatory). And also depending on what classes you came in with you may even be further along

Broome is awesome. I spent a summer there and it’s by far my favorite dorm. It has everything you want- clean, hardwood floors, big, spacious apartment like rooms, villagey feel, great location, not sketchy at all (SoHo’s great if you want exciting, though I don’t see why Third North is more exciting than Palladium), and Broome is closer than GH (I think it’s closer to the gym at Cole’s than it is to Palladium though). There’s no major grocery store in the immediate vicinity, but there’s a convenient store right next door and a bunch of cute little shops around, and there’s always Fresh Direct (which is awesomeee) for the rest of your grocery needs. In conclusion, Broome is severely underrated and is far superior to Third North and GH.
