Is it okay to take the SAT three times, or should I just switch over to the ACT?

I took it in December and had 660CR/750M/720W.

I wanted to raise my reading score so I took it in May. But I got… 660CR/740M/780W. Now what? I seem to have a lot of trouble with the reading…

Suggestions on how to proceed?

Ya, it can’t hurt to take the SAT for a third time. College board offers something called score choice, which allows you to choose which scores you want to send to colleges and most colleges use students’ superscores. I would suggest the SAT if you have been studying for it since the ACT is a completely different format and may trip you up, but some of my friends say that the ACT is easier for people good at science.

For Critical Reading, I suggest more practice. If you don’t already have the college board blue book, buy it. Then, take sections of the Critical reading, score them, and see why you missed the questions you did as well as why your correct answers are right (for further understanding) and, then, figure out what you need to do next time to avoid your errors. If you just missed a word, memorize it for next time. For the passage questions, Just remember the answers are always in the passages. You just need to figure out where to look and how to spot them. After a few tests, you should see an improvement.
Good Luck!

I’ve never heard of multiple tests hurting anyone. Simply send in your best score…
