ECs:

Girl Scouts 9-12 (This is pretty much my life. I’ve been a delegate at the annual business meeting for two years now.)
Quiz Bowl 9-12 (co-captain junior, captain senior year. We have continued to win practically all available honors for our division at our state format and always place with national formats. We have gone to NAQT nationals since freshman year. I have been a part of Quiz Bowl since third grade.)
Amnesty International 10-12 (This was started my sophomore year. I am fairly sure I will be president this year.)

Volunteer Experience/Jobs:

250+ hours of combined community service for 2007

In 2007, I worked as a counselor (paid) at the Girl Scout camp I have attended since I was eight years old. I did not return this summer because of Governor’s School. I will return next summer.

In the first week of August, I will work (paid) as a mentor for my school’s incoming freshmen.

Recs/Essays:
My Quiz Bowl coach (as well as AP World History teacher) will be writing one. The other will be written by one of my Honors English teachers (before AP in 9-10 grade). Both should be incredible and I expect a lot of crying to be going on. :)

My essays should be… well, frankly, way above average.

A little bit of necessary information:

My father was an abusive alcoholic and drug addict. He committed suicide in 2007. Therefore, my freshman year (2005-2006), was one of, if not the worst, years of my life. My GPA suffered because of this - staying at a constant 3.5 the entire year. There is a D and a couple of Cs on my transcript.

I am currently on medication for moderate OCD, anxiety, and depression.

The math scores are, well, embarrassing. I’ve always been pretty terrible at math, and I’ve had the severe misfortune of mostly bad math teachers. This summer is an undertaking and revamping of my math ability.

I am looking to major in political science and vocal performance (theatre or opera).
