This is a 911, i need the 411 on the six colleges!

okay, i got admitted into thurgood marshall. i randomly picked it. it was only when i received my acceptance letter that i actually began to research the real distinction between the six colleges.

okay here are my circumstances…

i want to major in a social science, possibly: sociology, psychology, poli sci, or philosophy

i want to go to law school and admittance is very numerically based. they want a high GPA 3.5+

my questions are…

 1. which of the six colleges has the least competitive students for social science that would help me get a high GPA in?
 2. which of the six colleges has has the best GE program to help me keep away from taking math/natural science to fulfill GE requirements?

i looked at warren and it looked the best bet for me to accomplish this. i feel like majoring in social sciences would be easier in warren b/c of their GEs. is this a false conclusion?

and MOST IMPORTANTLY

if i want to change from one college to another, how will i go about doing that? does it take a lot of effort and time? when will i be able to? can i do it before i start my fall quarter or do i hafta wait till after? thanks!!!

“1. which of the six colleges has the least competitive students for social science that would help me get a high GPA in?”

You take classes with all the rest of the university.

“2. which of the six colleges has has the best GE program to help me keep away from taking math/natural science to fulfill GE requirements?”

Probably Warren or Muir, but leading into the next one…

From the sounds of it today at Admit Day, you can change it after your Freshman year if it is CRITICAL to the completion of your Degree within 4 years; otherwise, you’re going to go through hell trying.

Anyone else chime in if I do end up wrong. I’m rather sure of this though.

Have fun at Marshall!

Marshall sounds perfect for you. It has a balanced amount of GEs, very good in social science stuff, and celebrates diversity. If you’re miserable, you can change after your first year into ERC which is the best history based college, or into Muir if you’re overworked.
