Never feel discouraged because of one bad test score. It is always possible to make a significant improvement. When I first took the ACT I got a 25 ( 26 in English, 28 in math, 27 in reading, and a 20 in science). My new score is a 30 ( 33 in English, 34 in Math, 27 in reading, and a 24 in science) As you can see, it is possible to make a huge improvement. I felt discouraged. I felt like I could not do it. But I put in the time and work to improve my score. The key is to take a lot of practice tests and to analyze your errors. This helped me a lot. I will also provide you with tips to improve your English and Math score.= because I feel that those are the two sections that are the easiest to improve in.
English
- the shortest answer is usually the correct answer
- If “omit” is an option, it is probably correct
- make sure that a list has a parallel structure. For example, you would say running, jumping, and swimming rather that I ran, went jumping, and swam
4)When a question asks about the passage as a whole, look at the title of the passage. This can help you understand the purpose
5)Make sure that the verb tense is correct - do a lot of practice problems. This will help you learn grammar.
Math
- take a trig course
- Remember the properties of shapes (i.e. a parallelogram has the opposite sides congruent)
- practice, practice, practice!!!
- learn the unit circle
- do not let word problems intimidate you
- If you are stuck on a question come back to it later because there is still part of your mind that is working on the problem even though you are unaware of it.
Good luck, and remember that confidence is key. Never get discouraged!!! You can do it, I believe in you
